It's the call of the Farkle Bird!

"Farkle-farkle-farkle-farkle" :eek:

STeed STicks from Robt Kienlin.

rdk4@comcaST.net

These are not the 'switchblade' type but they fit further forward and are long enough (when deployed) so your legs can reach around the fairing. My 30" inseam legs are fully extended when my feet are on the pegs They will not be guillotines in a crash.
When I firST saw the blade type I was really impressed with the looks and clever engineering. After thinking about the design, the guillotine effect of the thin 'wings' on ones legs/feet or ? made me re-think.

The pegs are top quality and very STurdy. The inSTructions are clear and complete.
A road teST follows.

I think what you are doing is hitting the little button that looks like mountains above the message window. Is that what you are doing? If so that's not what you want to be doing. What you want to do is click the "manage attachments" button in the window below the message window. Then select the picture file on your computer and click "upload". Then the picture should show up as a thumbnail attachment. Here....I'm gonna try it to make sure that it is actually working.

Brian

Yup it's working.

If you use the little mountain looking button above the message window, you must upload your pictures to web space then "refer" to it in between then <IMG> and </IMG> tags. That will "embed" the picture into your message, but unless you are paying someone for space or are getting some free space somewhere, you can't do it that way. Which is what the little red x's are all about. You are refering to a picture somewhere on the web that doesn't exist. So you need to use the manage attachment feature to upload the pictures to this website.

Watch your size on the pics. There is a file size restriction.

Stating the obvious and running.

Weird, I see them...>>Insert Twilight Zone music here<<

georgeorge
03-05-2005, 02:20 PM
that's because in between the <IMG> and </IMG> tags is refering to the space on your computer. And because you are actually on your computer...it finds them. But the rest of the world is blind to the files on your computer.

They are pretty nice. My only concern would be if you dropped the bike, they are gonna get wiped out. The wing cover is only $15 but that makes a drop a little more expensive.

Re: Drop
True, but you could say that about several pieces. Wait 'til you price the mirror covers etc. lol
The brackets are 1/4" STeel and I did STand on them juST because. 'Course I don't weigh 700+ :-) Folded, the pegs are inboard of the bars.

Super Cool. Do you have a link to where you bought them or are they your own invention.

Robert K made some excellent risers for the ST11, and I expect the ST13 ones will be just as great. Just to show how weird coincidences are, Robert is my wife's brother's best friend and he was our wedding photographer!

The folded pegs are inboard but also below the crash bars. If the bike tips over on a fairly level surface, it looks to me like the bars will impact first. I don't know exactly what the effect would be but it's something to consider. .

Road (rode) teSTed the STicks today...Very nice.
Legs are able to STraighten completely. I find when my kness STart complaining if I can STraighten them and push hard againST some pegs I'm good for more miles. Better than STanding for me, although I do that too.

Good STuff. :hotpepper

How close do they come to your feet folded in on your pegs? Do they interfere with your braking/shifting... they look real close from the pics..

Nice looking! :)

The tip of the folded RK peg is 13" away from the center of the footpeg. It's the angle of the pic.

Look at poST #13 on pg 1, pic #3.

Great idea, the chrome was the only thing I didn't like about them. I'll second that request.

This is what I did for hiway pegs on my St1100, they will not drag in corners, they help prevent damage in a tipover by resisting tipping past the wings. Go to "New Pegs" pics on this site-

http://community.webshots.com/user/sundug

I went to my local MC dealer/junkyard, and bought a used set of
aftermarket pegs for $2. I bought two 6" long bolts to fit them, for
about $1.50. I welded two short pieces of 1" square tubing to the tip
over bars, so the covers would just fit over them, with the top of the
square tube just below the plastic cover when it`s in place. I then cut
two 1" lengths of 3/4" square bar stock and drilled a hole in the center
of each to accept the peg bolt. I bent a 90* into the bolt, cut off the
head, figured out where I wanted it to go, and welded the cut off end
into the 3/4" stock with a washer on top. This enables me to just lift
the peg from it`s snug fit when I want to remove the tip over wing
cover. I welded the bolt to the peg, and filled in with weld so it looks
like one piece. It works well, will never touch down like the $200 pegs
will, and really cost me less than $5! Ask if you have any further
questions. Doug 2193

After just getting back from 3500 miles (Tulsa to Sturgis an Back + ride about milage)...I can say that the ONLY thing lacking on my ST now is the ability to stretch my legs. Count me in on the group buy!

Here is the reply I got today... I will let you take it from here Rocket...

Terry - thanks for your kind words. From the feedback I've gotten from my ST1300 customers this year, the design is working well for everyone. The pegs really do make a great bike more comfortable on trips.

As for a group buy - yes, we could do something with that. I don't have lots of room to bargain since my costs are so high for these low-volume items, but for a buy of 10 sets or more I could reduce the price $15 per set (i.e. $210 + $25 shipping = $235/set); and for 20 sets or more, I could reduce the price $25 per set (i.e. $200 + $25 shipping = $225/set). Delivery time in either case would be less than 30 days, after receipt of payment(s).

As for the finish on the pegs themselves, I buy those from Kuryakyn, and they only come in chrome with black footpads. If a person wanted black pegs badly enough, I suppose they could roughen up the chrome with sandpaper, and paint them all black (you can remove the rubber footpads from the pegs by pulling out the long bolt that goes thru the middle of the peg).

Thanks, RDK

I installed a set of Steed STicks on my wife's ST, the end of May. We just got back after spending 17 days on the road and I'm happy to say she absolutely loves the STicks! Really saved her knees. These are a great product and were worth the money. As usual, you get what you pay for, and the quality is there.

Just when I thought the top of the ST1100 tip-over wings were also highway pegs.

When the Honds gods created the ST1100 they saw it was good.

*cough* ummm - I know the answer to that - - scuffs up the protector ($16.95 from the dealer) and injures the pride - at least if you're stopped and forget to put down the sidestand before you put down the bike... The bag and pipe were less than a quarter inch from the ground when it was laying over like this, so I bet they'd get scraped if you tried this at 30 mph.

The mirror housing is $80... scraped mine against the brick around my garage door backing into a way too tight parking spot... anyone know the paint code for a touch-up pen? :p

Those pegs look way cool!

Rocket~~~

So,,, When is it you think,,, you will pull this together and start the Group buy???

Sorry to keep asking but,,, your timeline/money doesn't sound like it matches up with my timeline/need... :(

I will be in Colorado 29 days from now... In his e-mail he said he can assure delivery within,,, 30 days... I am not good with math but,,, I THINK,,, I am pushing the envelope right now...

If it is going to be a week or so,,, I will just bite the bullet and pay full price,,, just need to know for sure so as not to take another # out of the group buy and hurt the chances of getting a even better price for the group...

Well,,, dang,,, I wish I could Rocket... I would normaly jump up and take this and run with it but,,, I leave in 2 weeks on "Family Vacation" in the Cage for 7 - 10 days... THEN,,, about 2 - 5 days later,,, leave on a 20 day,,, 8,000 - 10,000 mile motorcycle trip... Throw in this thing called "Work"

:::::shudder:::::

(((yes putt,,, I DO,,, work,,, some)))) ;)

and I am gone more than here for about 30 of the next 45 days...

When I order mine I will see if he will count mine,,, against the total from here so as to hopefully help out the group...

Hey Terry,
I was just thinking, having met you, I know that you are a pretty tall fellow..
If you can't get the Steed Sticks, buy a pair of them sneakers that have
the little rollerskate wheels in the heels... Just extend the wheels and you can
drape your legs over the tip over wings and let your heels ride on the little
wheels..... Voila!!!
