I see it's been a little trouble for some to figure out how to include images in your posts so I figured I would try to find a help file here somewhere to explain it, but I couldn't find one. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but I couldn't find one. So I decided that I would try to explain how to do it for those of you having trouble. I want to see your images. So here goes.

To include images in your posts:

There are 2 ways to include images in your posts. The first is a way that few will be able to use. If you have your own web space somewhere on the web that you have the ability to upload files to then you can do it this way.

It requires that you upload the image file to that space, then "refer" to it in your post between <IMG> and </IMG> tags. You can place these tags anywhere in your post by hitting the little square button above the message window that looks like mountains. You must know the exact web address to the picture file that you uploaded and put that address in between the <IMG>&</IMG> tags. This will embed that image right in your posted message. If you remove that file from your web space it will no longer show up in your posted message either. It will show up as a little red "x" symbolizing a broken link.

Now I'll try to explain the way that anyone can do it. It only requires that you have the image file on your computer and know where to find it on your computer. Doing it this way will show up at the end of your message as an attachment and appear as a thumbnail (small) image. Anyone can view the full size image by clicking on the thumbnail which will open a new window and display the full size version.

To do it this way, type your message in the message window. then scroll down to the "Additional Options" box below the message box and you will see a button that reads "Manage Attachments". Click this button which will open up a new window. In that new window click the browse button to sort through the files on your computer. Once you have found and highlighted the image file you want to attach hit "Open". You will see the location/name of the file in the "File to Upload" box. Now click the "Upload" button. Give the computer a chance to upload the file (depending on the size of the file and your connection it could take a few minutes). Once it has uploaded that image file, you can either attach another image file by repeating the "Browse" and "Upload" steps or click "Close This Window" if you have attached all the files you want attached. When you click that button the window will close and you'll be back at the message screen and each file that you attached should be listed right above the "Manage Attachments" button.

Now when you submit your post you will have images.

I am going to try this. If I could also figure out how to get my files smaller, I would include a picture with my name:rolleyes:

I see large pictures that are a part of posts now and then, as opposed to the thumbnail size that's most common.

How does one upload those big pics? Anyone ...

You mean like this. . . . .

You have to have a link to the picture, then just click on the "insert Image" icon on the tool bar and insert the link

See post #1 in this thread... find the image on the web (google images for instance), highlight & "copy" the URL in the address bar, and when composing this message, hit the yellowish icon up in the tool section, and "paste" the URL into the pop up box that will appear. note: don't double include the "http//" stuff. Preview your message and ....tada...

Ditto, Coldoughboy!

I did it once. Can't remember how I did it. From the looks of the resolution in my avatar I don't want to remember how  :p: !

Suggestions, anyone?

More tips on pic's:

1) For files larger than 800x600, instead of linking them with vBulletin's IMG tags, you can use html img tags to resize the image. For example, <img src=http://www.st-owners.com/images/image.jpg height=600 width=800 border=0> would resize the image to 800x600

2) Also you can make your pictures linkable by enclosing the picture links within vBulletin URL open and close tags. <img src=http://www.st-owners.com/images/image.jpg border=0> (http://www.st-owners.com) would display image and link to 'http://www.st-owners.com'.

I do not take credit for these tips as I learned them from another friend of mine a long time ago.
