Orange Power

I purchased the Gerbing liner w/ dual portable controller and powerlet adapter cable from local BMW mc store.
On my ST, I have a powerlet just below the right fairing pocket that goes back to bike's battery (with its own fuse).
Is the following the best way to wire?
1. velcro'd controller to tank, sideways (knobs on left side)
2. plugged coax power into powerlet using adapter cable.
3. jacket connectors dangle on top of center tank pad.

I also have available a SAE connector under that seat for the Slime air pump that connects directly to battery.
Also, does the Gerbing work good under a mesh jacket?
Is it going to do ok with the wind and water that may come thru the mesh?
