I wonder if you'd join me for a quiet moment to mark the loss of PC Katie Mitchell of Kent Police.
Katie died this morning on her way to work at Ashford Police station in Kent, England when she lost control of her motorcycle and hit another vehicle head-on, causing fatal injuries. I saw the report on the news this morning of a serious accident in Goudhurst, but didn't get the sad news that it was Katie until I got to work this afternoon.
I worked with Katie for a couple of years in the late nineties at Margate, before she transferred to Ashford nick. She wasn't everyone's cup of tea, being described by some as 'unusual', and memorably, by one of her supervisors as 'mad as a box of frogs'. However, she was a colleague, and a biker, and will leave behind a lot of friends and family that thought the world of her.
Thanks,

Dickie

Dickie, you have my sincere sympathies. I have relatives in Smarden, going back centuries. Visited there in '98. Beautiful country.

Katie was a popular member of another bike user forum i use in the UK called 'The Snug'.

She will be sadly missed by all that came to know her through her posts, and those she met on rideouts.

Condolences to all her family and friends :(

RIP Katie, ride free.
