Any one with Meniere's and Riding Well?

Recently had some major dizziness and vertigo issues and it looks like I've got Meniere's. Can barely even drive my Accord today, let alone ride my ST1300.

Any fellow riders successfully face this disease, and if so, any words of encouragement or advice?

So far I'm on a Diuretic and beginning a Low-Salt Diet, and I think that's helping . . . Have some follow-up appointments scheduled with my doctors.

Will I be able to ride again, and have a normal active and vibrant life?? Have had some dark moments over the past week.

Am 45 years old, married with an infant daughter, and also have a fairly stressful job that I'm sure does not help.

I don't have it myself but my riding partner has it, or thought he MAY have it. A specialist told him that it gets misdiagnosed a lot. He was told to go low sodium as well, and a few other corrections in his diet. For awhile there he would take a week off from work at time but seems to have it under control. I would point out that he's 15 years your senior and still rides without any concerns. He was worried for there at one point but it seems to have abated with his new diet. Hope it goes well for you too, I would be in baaad mood if I thought I couldn't ride anymore!

I know very little about it, but I know a person that had it. It was disabling him. He got very sick :puk1:, If he got an attack at work, 2 people would have to carry him to a vehicle and take him home. His wife said he just want to die (literally). The doctors did some kind of surgery and removed something from his one ear (the part that helps a person balance?) He no longer has Meniere's. But he said if the other ear gets messed up he will be dizzy and unable to balance for the rest of his life. I think he has bought a motorcycle since, but he takes it pretty easy.

I have two friends with Meniere's, one who rides. They both had their affected ear operated on and are doing much better. My riding buddy could not even get out of bed on occaisions but now has no problems even riding. Of course you will be deaf in that ear.

The astronaut Allen Shepard had Meniere's and had it surgically corrected. This might be an option.
