I've never owned any heated gear before, but will soon have a Gerbing heated jacket liner.

Where do you guys connect up the jacket? Also where do you mount the heattroller?

I just installed the powerlet dual BMW outlet, next to the shock adjuster, and was thinking I'd connect up there. Then just clip the heattroller to my jacket. I just posed this question to a friend, and he didn't think hooking up to the powerlet outlet would be a good place. He has an SAE connection that he pulls out from under the front of the seat to hook up the jacket liner.

I have a powlet output on both sides of the fairing, after the bottom of the pocket lids. I don't have a heat troller, just the on/off switch. I've seen others using the dual powerlet by the shock and it seems to work well too...

I think plugging in to a BMW outlet is a great idea. I've been doing it for years on three ST1100's, and just last week installed a BMW outlet on my wife's PC800 so she can plug in her electric vest. Neither one of us use a heattroller. I've always found a simple on-off switch perfectly adequate, but that's a matter of choice. Clipping it to your jacket seems like a good way to go. I don't know where the shock adjuster is on a 1300, on my 1100's and the PC800 I mounted the BMW outlets on the fairing pockets just above the left knee.

I've used SAE connectors pulled out from under the seat, and they are a PITA to connect and disconnect. BMW plugs are waaaayyyy easier to deal with, and if you accidentally walk away from the bike without unplugging, you're a lot less likely to damage the wires with a BMW plug than with an SAE connector.

I put a PowerLet BMW outlet (from Cal Sport Touring) on the right fairing panel below the door. I took power directly from the battery via a Heatroller permanent unit (from a local company), which I mounted in the small sort of triangular point sticking to the left of the right fairing panel. There's room for the knob and the little LED. Works great. I really like being able to dial in a precise heat level for my Gerbings with the Heatroller.

You might want to put some quick connectors in line to the outlet so you can easily remove the right side tupperware in the future. You can guess why I recommend that...
