I was looking at a pair of Alpinestar gloves today, and this glove has a 3rd and 4th finger bridge that prevents separation. When I asked the sales girl what separation means, she said that in a crash, and lot of people have their pinky fingers ripped off.
Is this for real, or just a marketing ploy?

Don't know about 'ripped off', but I have heard about a lot of pinky injuries... Sounds like a good idea in a glove... :D

I came off my VMAX and for some reason my left little finger was the last to let go LOL . I broke it across the joint but still have it. I was wearing my Belstaff winter gloves at the time (five fingered) and they didn't have a mark on them. I came down on my right side and cracked the ball on the end of my humerous.Don't know if your gloves would have helped me though.

I don't know the stats on that glove actually helping, but after what happened to my son, I kind of doubt it actually works. My son was playing baseball (high school at the time) and went for a diving catch at short stop and came up with a dislocated pinky (made a great catch by the way). So, imagine this, he was wearing a baseball glove and the dislocated pinky was in the baseball glove, which is thicker and more padded than most riding gloves.
As for me, I will keep wearing my usual riding gloves, having a dislocated pinky is the least of my concerns!
