hello everyone, just thought that i would introduce myself as i will soon be pounding you all with questions. i am going to get my 1300 at the end of the week. the local dealer has an 04 with 800 miles on it he is willing to give me for 11.5K, but i might still order a new one, we shall see. anyway i currently have a 03 saber 1100 which i am putting more than 1000 miles a month on, so i decided that i should give the 1300 a try, plus i really want to start doing some long x countries like Florida to NY and i think that this is going to be a good fit.
One quick question, i love the sound of the cruisers, now i know that this is not a cruiser, but is there anyway to get a little deep rumble out of the 1300 or is it to well designed for the long huals, call me strange but i love to listen to the engine while on a long haul...
thanks for the board guys and when i get my 1300 home, i will start in with the questions..

Welcome and good hunting for your ST.
The best source for info about what an ST sounds like with aftermarket pipes is here: http://www.jackphelps.com/hondastaintune.htm
Keep us in the loop about your choices for ST updates. We all like to hear about possibilities.

If you are interested in long distance competitions, loud mufflers may cause ejection from the event. Also loud pipes can wear you out on a long distance trip. :03biker:

Dude... traded in my Sabre for an 05 ST... you'll love it! No chance on the cruiser sound... sorry! I am looking at Staintunes, they have removable baffles/silencers... I was running 65's with the baffles cut in half on my
Sabre... they were my Verizon pipes without baffles, "Can you hear me now?"
You are going to love this bike... Did you hang out at thesabregroup.com?
Ride safe,

I am surprised I haven't run by more members from the v4 site over here.

Seems to be quite a few comming from the magna sabre machines. Great bikes but they don't know what they are missing out on until they try the ST. Just love my ST.

Welcome, airslo. I hope you love your new bike. [imho, red mobetta!] Several people have said that they do not like the ST's high pitched sound. I've come to like it a lot. The whine is a lower rpm thing. To me that means it's basically idling most of the time. It's like, "You don't like the sound of my bike? Well, when I turn the power on, you can hear what it really sounds like. As you watch my tail lights recede into the distance." :)

Welcom, if you love your new bike 10% as much as I love mine, you will sleep with a big grin on your face at night. :)

Based on two seasons with my ST, I conclude that people find it interesting for two reasons: the power windshield ("Hey, dude, did I just see that windshield move?"), and the sound level ("I didn't know motorcycles could be so quiet."). I find both qualities contribute to comfort, especially on long rides.
Welcome aboard.

P.S. As a new member you should be aware that silver STs are fastest. :03biker:

Early congrats on the ST, whatever year. IMHO keep the exhaust stock, the world is loud enough as it is ;)

Almost every time I pull into Tim's for coffee I have to show at least one more person the power wind shield. Harley guys are crazy about it and one of the fellows tells me" in ten years from now Harley is going to have that to" There is nothing to not love about our ST's

Keep the pipes stock, stealth is much better than racket, sides the noise issue will just pi-- off the the general public and we don't need anymore of that. :biker:

The quiet pipes add to the other world feel of the ST. It's juST you, the wind and the road, lots of road. I hear the Staintunes are great for an earthier sound. Why on Earth would you want to sound like a cruiser? All show and no go! Welcome aboard and ride safe. :04biker: :biker: :03biker:

I actually liked the two brother's pipes I installed. Sounded great, nice Mellow rumble but not obnoxious.
Are they too loud for campgrounds and leaving your neighborhood early in the morning... yeah, just a little. That's why I sold them, I camp a lot and I didn't want to piss off the other campers when arriving or leaving the campgrounds late at night or early in the morning.
If I had the money, I'd go with the staintunes, the best of both worlds... If they ever run a special, they'll sell a bunch.

I just installed the Staintunes a week ago very nice sound not obnoxious! I got the for $689.00. Exoticsportbikes.com. They were the least expensive of all the places I looked. They gave me great service I had the pipes in 3 days.
Now if spring would take hold here in the NorthEast I could see what they sound like out on the road. They look great on the bike and are a very easy install.
