Greetings,
The current air compressor I have doesn't work too well for the rear wheel. The tab is too long and hits the metal, hard to get it on and off. What all do you use? Both for at home and on the road?
Thanks!

The ST's rear tire would be an ideal place for a right angle valve stem, such as I had on previous Hondas. I use a bicycle pump and just bend the valve stem slightly so I can get the air fitting on and off. I usually overfill by a couple pounds then take pressure readings (which bleed off a small amount of air each time) until it reads 42 psi.

Thanks for the info.
I looked in Walmart earlier and didn't see anything promising. Will have to double check.
I wonder if the auto parts stores would have 90 degree adapters? Will have to check it out.

Hey Hew, I had to say that! Check out the link below. I have the pump at home and use it all the time to fill my ST's tires. I haven't gotten around to cutting it up yet because it's so damn useful the way it is. This year I may buy a second one for cut-up. Carrying it on long trips would give me a warm fuzzy feeling. BTW, I hear 90 degree bend valves are easy to snap off or damage, be careful!! :)

Make sure the valve core has sufficient spring force to keep the air in against centripital force. I think the spring ratings are denoted by color. I've forgotten what color means what application though.

I use a shorten up one of these. Works fine.

I read on a site that tells you how to modify one of those to make them shorter. I had the link but Firefox hiccuped and lost all my good links.

I use the cycle pump and couldnt be happier. I place it and the "Tire Plugger" in the left compartment.

I stopped off at a Walmart on my way to meet some friends for dinner/bikenight and found a Campbell Hausfeld RP0500 for $9.95 :) Came in a blue case 6.5"x5.5"x3" Tomorrow, I may open it up and see how much smaller I can make it, but it's already pretty compact.
I'll probably hackoff half of the lever thingee to make it easier to close while on the valve stem.
Thanks all for your input :)
I "got" to use my 12v compressor laST week. I picked up a small nail in the rear tire. The lever on mine hits the wheel also but it will work with effort. I plugged the 1/2 worn tire with a good old Monkey Grip STring type and it's been at correct pressure since. FirST flat on the ST. I'm riding to OR on Sat to teST the plug 8)
Anyone wanna go? I'm STopping at ShaSTa for pix and then Crater Lake for more touriSTie crap. Be gone for a week. :03biker:

Look at my pics in the above post and you will see that you can nearly cut it in half the size. I also shortened the power cord and air hose to just reach the front tire - this allows a smaller overall package to take up minimum space.

Yep, lots of empty space in that case for storage of the hose. What did you use to cut the case?

Hacksaw I think. Then smoothed edges with Dremel.
