ALCOHOL USAGE
:hyp1: :beer8: :hyp1:

As one of the event's dis-organizers I wish to stress that alcohol will NOT be provided at the event.
If you wish to drink then you will have to bring your own. If you do decide to drink then
we would prefer that you do it in the campground following the park's rules and not ride afterwards.

Thank you for your attention.
That is all...
:)

ps... And that goes for the funny weed too Mark! :crackup

Who is this other "Mark" you speak of?

I figured out in the navy that if you;

1) smoked weird stuff you went in front of a military court and probably got jail time.
2) were absolutely drunk out of your mind the other guys put you to bed and laughed at/with you the next day.

Easy choice for me...

Man, this event is turning out to be quite the deal! Maybe I should go.... hey wait a minute, I think I did say I'd go....LOL

Pretty sure Vicki won't be joining us, but I'd better not count her out yet.

I do hope Vick makes it Dana. Terri is coming out on Sat. morning with a cooler full of ice and sodas! I could have her throw some root beers in there you lush you! LOL.

Fred,

I'm sorry to say that Vicki will not be joining us. As a matter of fact, because of her upcoming schedule, I will be arriving late. She begins a 13 day straight stint at her 24 hour a day home care job at 10am Saturday the 27th. Since I will see so little of her for the next two weeks, I will be staying home Friday night vice riding out and joining you guys as was my original plan. Since it is a relatively short ride to SEASTOC, I’ll see you guys Saturday. Save some tent space for me and I’ll see you guys there.

It sounds like we are going to be on the same schedule. I am coming up sometime Sat. Morning.

You wanna meet up and cruise up together? (I can ride out to meet you where ever....) :)

Sorry to hear your plans have been delayed as well Dan, sure let's get together and ride out. Like I said above anytime after 10am when the wife has to begin her work. You are welcome to meet me at my house or we can meet somewhere else if you prefer.

OK Guys.

Since it seems like Dana and Dan are heading out Sat. a.m., I'd like to hook up and ride out there with you guys. I was hoping to get out Fri. but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Your place is fine. It's on the way, right?

Mark, it'd be cool to hook up with you too on the way. I'll leave it up to you and Dana to coordinate as you both are north of me and I'll happily meet you guys anywhere.

Here's a thought: Meet in Julian for a late breakfast / early lunch @ 11 then ride from there?

Anyway, I am game either way. Just say the when and where and I'll be there.

Fred, many are expressing concern over the timing of this event and the recent fires. I hope this still turns out well, but some have their hands full just watching their property. I know we all wish them the best of luck and that their homes are spared. Stay safe out there guys!

Mark
10-23-2007, 04:17 PM
Dana,

What are the possibilities?

If you did not have to evacuate and they fires are mostly under control then you might as well be out of town because town is going to be full of stunned people and it will stink.

If the fire is still burning on the weekend and you had to evacuate then camping is what you'll already be doing... and you probably will not want to (or have the equipment to) go camping.

If the fire goes for your house before it is contained you'll have better things to do than camp.

You might as well be pragmatic about it....

Mark

What I see as your biggest problem will be trying to do riding events. Anything towards San Diego county (ie. Julian) will probably be off limits.

Taking SR74 out of Palm Desert and up to Idyllwild down to Banning and back might be okay since I haven't heard of anything burning that direction yet. :biker:

Mark
10-23-2007, 05:04 PM
Did Julian burn? The back (east) side should be okay...

Obviously Ramona will probably not be open...

But you'd be surprised...they open the roads up pretty quickly after the firestorm ends (well they did in the mountains above Santa Barbara long ago).

ATTENTION ALL CAMPERS! ATTENTION ALL CAMPERS!

CANCELLATION ISSUES AND CONCERNS!
FIRES AND WEATHER

All very good concerns guys! I'm with Mark. By the time the Event takes place I truly believe most if not all of the crisis will be over. As for roads being open to travel there, that will remain to be seen. Might have to do some detouring, but not a hassle. As for Rides; there are no "planned" rides offered. You guys have a whole big desert to ride in! The entire Anza Borrego State Park, Joshua Tree National Park, a roundtrip round the Salton Sea, there are some interesting sites to see nearby, hanging out in the campground, going fishing, going swimming, walking, talking, etc. etc. etc. Geez! Do I need to hold your hand too!? LOL. Check the Event's sub-forum "Things To Do, Places To See" (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27304).

Now a word about weather... I believe it's going to somewhat warm. OK OK, maybe HOT! I've been following the National Weather Service link: NOAA - Mecca CA (http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/forecast/MapClick.php?site=sgx&smap=1&textField1=33.57167&textField2=-116.07639), and it of course changes day to day, is showing possible 89-93 degrees out there! Yikes! But hey! Isn't that a big big body of water just outside your tent's front door!? Sure enuff! "SPLASH!" And of course remember, if you are familiar with the desert and it's heat, that will only be for about 4-6 hours during the day! The evenings will be perfect, and the nights could be chilly! Desert Extremes! Who would of thunk!? LOL.

If some you guy's homes have burned down these past few days I am very sorry and if you miss this event due to family/home/drunk-kids-running-stop-lights-and-smacking-ya-breaking-your-legs-and-totaling-the-bike issues that is perfectly understandable. For those whose pads are still standing and blow out: YOU'RE A BUNCH OF SISSIES!!! (Just kidding - not) LOL.

Please let me let me know if you had marked that you are showing up and then change you mind so I can adjust the count and issue the proper scarlet letters. Thanks!

BTW... I got a email from Motorcycle Larry of MCL Products that he will be coming out on Friday to camp overnight and leave sometime Sat. He will be bringing his fully MCL farkled ST1300 and is willing to let you guys ride it (you have to give him your keys first) and try out his MCL STuff. He will not be coming out for MCL business. Just there to relax like the rest of us. Plus TurboTom of Turbo City Performance will be coming out on Sat. to visit and gab (his family will be riding out at the Ocotillo Wells OTV Park that weekend).

Here's a list of free goodies to whet your appetites:

FREE CAMPING!
FREE SPAGHETTI DINNER SATURDAY NIGHT!
FREE RAFFLE GIVE-AWAY PRIZES!
Free Water!
Free friendship! ...Priceless!
Free Halloween Candy!
Meet and greet legends like Motorcycle Larry, TurboTom, ....and Finewest? Well, the first two anyway.
ST-Owners.com Arizona Moderator MARK! ...that alone should do it!

It's like a no-brainer! LOL

Come for two nights, one night, or the day! Up to you...

Or, if open, 15 north to 215 north to 60 east to 10 east to 86 south to 111 south to campground.

Or, 5 north to 74 east to 15 north to 215 north to 60 east to 10 east to 86 south to 111 south to campground.

Or, two Ridillen Crystals, rub together, ask Scotty for more power, and stand on the molecular resonator delimiter scanner (MCL sells one), beam into campground...:crackup

Or, ...aw heck! It'll all be open by then! Won't be pretty, but it'll be open.
