I finally purchased and mounted a Datel digital voltmeter. I gave the mounting location a lot of thought as I wanted to have it in plain view while riding and not have it look like an afterthought. It turned out as good as I had hoped...

The bracket is .062 aluminum, 1.5" x 7". Only the two outside sets of holes are necessary. They are 1/2" in from the ends and 1/2" apart. This allows the bracket to be zip tied into place across the front fairing framework.

Very nice install. I've been wanting to do the same thing.

What model Datel is that? Did you purchase directly from them?

Pardon my ignorance, but do the leads connect directly to the battery?

thanks,

Pat

I bought mine through this place. (http://www.digitalmeter.com) They have the best price I have seen for these meters, $39.50. I don't know the model off hand. Go to the web site and it will be obvious. You have a choice of 1 or 2 digits to the right of the decimal. The bezel is optional, $6.00.

I strongly suggest that you do not get the meter with two decimal places. It's not necessary to know the voltage that closely, but more importantly the hundredth decimal will be constantly changing. This can be a real distraction.

I've had my Datel for a while, just got around to installing it last night while installing my motolights. I couldn't decide where to put it until I read this post a couple weeks ago.

I blindly followed Ray's bracket dimensions to make the bracket, except I used 1/8 inch bar (just because it was easier to get) and countersunk the bezel holes slightly.

As far as I am concerned, this was the perfect place.

Thanks Ray! :bow1:

The iWay 500C GPS has a built-in voltmeter that can be displayed on the map screen, too.

I have read the owmer's manual from one end to the other. How do you get it set to the "voltmeter mode"? I can't find it. I have the X50 - are we talking about the same model?
Thank you,
Joe
