OK I don't know how to post a video, we'll see if this works, I'm sure there's a better way? any ways, I installed my Stebel horn and here's a small clip comparing it to my wife's F4I's horn, same as stock ST's.
I used the small hole behind the mirror mount for the horn and I chose not to mount the relay in the horns old mount, which I've seen done, I wanted to get it away from the stock horns vents in the inner cowl panel to get it out of the elements a bit more, I used an Adel clamp around the frame work and mounted it behind the horn,
In case any one else is going to do it, I used 12g wire, fused at the battery with a inline 20A fuse, I'm going to mount a Centeck1 fuse block, but for now, I chose to run this separately, since it's the biggest draw I'll probably have, that way when I hook up our Microwave and Latte machine on the bike , the fuse block wont be overloaded, but seriously when i do mount the fuse block, I will probably run it through it, so it will be switched with the ignition, I know it wont work now when the ignition is off, but if the relay was to fail, as Scarmans did, with the ignition off, the horn will run continuously till it melts. or maybe I'll install a second relay?? I started working on it from the horn back, when I got to the battery wiring, I was too tired to install the fuse block, and I needed to put the bike back together, since I was supposed to go to the coast today on it, wife honey do's are keeping my here, Damm!! so thats why I just went straight to the battery.
Parts used, relay from Radio shack, $6.79 ( 12VDC/30A SPST Automotive Relay
Model: 275-226 ) I heard about the problems some have had with the relay supplied with the horn, so I used my spare relay I had lying around , I opened it up and sealed it with silicone before installation, NOTE: I also opened the Stebels relay, and it was identical, and in perfect condition, Scarmans was all corroded inside when it failed right after installation and almost caught his bike on fire. and no it had not been in the elements, it was brand new from Stebel, Radio Shack 30- Amp inline fuse holder with 20A blade fuse installed.
Model: 270-1234 $2.69 OH and Adel clamp borrowed from my old job.
now I got to figure out where to mount it on our other bikes,
Adel clamp, for those who are not familiar with them
