Back on July 6, Gail and I had our accident and totaled the '06 Wing. While she was in the Livingston MT hospital, she overheard the doctor telling someone in the hall outside her room that she had a high blood count. When we returned home she told her Genreal Practicioner about the blood count. Her doctor than took a sample and sure enough she had a high count. The GP then had Gail go for an Echogram. This showed a mass on her liver. Next was the CAT scan. This confirmed what the previous test showed. Next was a biopsy and Gail was going to keep the results from me if I didn't come out and ask her about the test. Saturday evening while at BamaSToc, I asked her about the test and was informed it was a malignant mass. I made the decision to go home then instead of going to CA. She goes to the Cleveland Clinic Tuesday at 9:45 to see a specialist and learn what will take place in the future. As I learn more I'll keep this post updated. And to those of you that have expressed concern, thanks. From Gail, all thoughts appreciated and all prayers greatly accepted.

We spent over 3 hours at the hospital and are no wiser as to what course of action will be taken to get the tumor off Gail's liver. They took a blood sample and made an appointment for more CT scans on Nov 9th. The surgeon said he may go in and close the blood supply to the right half of the liver to allow the left half to grow large enough to sustain her life and cut out the right side to rid her of the tumor. It is frustrating Folks. Mac

My best thoughts are going out to you Mac and Gail. I've been though a lot of what you will face, with my family and several friends.

Be sure each day to find quiet time and review the events of the day....some of the decisions you'll make together will be difficult, mostly because of the many things that pile up and come at you at the same time. It helps to sort out things at the end of each day. It makes the next day a little easier.

Hang in there! About nine years ago, my father was diagnosed with leukemia and given just months to live. After a pretty severe course of treatments, especially for a guy his age, his condition stabilized and has remained so ever since. He turned 85 last March. Anyway, my whole point in bringing this up is that every time he learns of a friend or relative facing cancer, he offers this advice: "Attitude is everything." He lives by this adage -- literally.

Wow, it's been a while since I've updated this thread!!! We went to the Clinic on Tuesday the 22nd and the surgeon was quite pleased with Gail's condition, but he had blood drawn anyhow. Gail was in and out of the room so fast, I thought they didn't draw blood. But with a big smile on her face she said "that gal knew what she was doing, I've never had anyone draw blood as good as she did". She called the Clinic yesterday and the results were SUPER!!! Normal liver count is 10 or below, hers is 4!!! We are scheduled to go back every 3 months for a year and if things keep going the way they are it will then be every 6 months.

As a frequent plasma/platelet donor, I can empathize with Gail's observation about the skill of the person wielding the needle. I had to tell one young lady, "Sorry, but 8 sticks is all the practice you get on me".

Superb news, Mac, and best wishes to you both.

This is MOST excellent!!!! I can understand why we haven't heard much from you. I was afraid that it was the bedroom accomadations or something. I know, it was that I was useless in pushing or pulling you out of the ditch :+}

Enjoy the SPring and Summer. The offer is always open at the Schwartz house. I even have a new stablemate, a Buell 1125r.
