I don't know if anything can be done about the intensity of the dash lights, but even on a normal day the indicators are hard to read. On a really bright day, especially with sunglasses, I can't read anything except maybe the bars on the gas guage.
Is it just my eyes or is this common to all. I know there are 3 settings, but the brighest is not bright enough.
Any answers? Or am I just :BDH:

Before I bought my bike this was one of the common problems that I read about. Have also read some where that if your sun glasses are polerized because of how the dash works you can not see any thing. Sorry I can't give you any more of a tech answer but am sure others will be along with more on this.

Boy that's a no-no. I put some polarized sunglasses on one morning when there was a chill in the air. I pulled out facing the sun and had such a rainbow effect in my windshield I could not see where I was going.
I changed to regular (non-polarized) sunglasses and the vision (of the rainbow) was gone. Wow!

When wearing sunglasses and with my dark smoke helmet visor on, every now and then, if the sun angle is just right, I can't see the LED display. But not often at all, maybe 5% of the time at most.
Wonder if they upped the intensity on '05s?

I usually did not have a problem with the 03 and the 05 is just as bright. Maybe something is wrong with the dash.

I would guess that the angle at which you lok at the dash would be a factor (ie how tall you are).
The other issue is your lattitude. I'll let you figure that out....

Usually the display is easy to read on my '03. At some light angles it can become difficult. Are you using perscription sunglasses? I can't read the display except under the best conditions without lenses having a diopter of 2 (encroaching age :( ). I use stick on half lenses in my sunglasses.- john
