Ok,,, I am like almost everyone else I guess,,, I don't REALLY want my tank bag setting on my tank if I can find a good way to get around it...

The best looking idea,,, IMHO is the Big Maka... But,,, it LOOKS,,, to me at least it will set to far forward on the ST 1300 and my GPS which is cradled in between the handlebars on a Livebaitlarry set up... I just don't see how it will flip forward to allow me to fuel up... Anyone have any ideas or have witnessed 1 of these??? It doesn't give size for this one...

Bigmaka!!! (http://www.bigmakaccess.com/)

The next 2 are real close in how they work... The Luggage Locker locks on to the tank by a key system... You can also "Upgrade" it to a new material which they claim is 100% waterproof for an additional $20...
Tank bag dimensions: 5” tall (7” expanded)…. 13” long…10” wide (front)

Luggage Locker!!! (http://www.luggagelocker.com/luggage-tank-locker.htm)

The Last one,,, uses magenets to do the same thing... You can add additional bag "Sandwiched" between to add even more volume if needed but really,,, I think the standard is ok... Dimensions:5" high (8" expanded) x 8" wide x 11" long

Marsee!!! (http://www.marseeproducts.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.100.exe/online-store/scstore/scpages/subpages/sub_Corona.html?L+scstore+bfnl2674ff663b66+1128914 316)

Ok,,, Questions...

# 1 ~~~ Does anyone have any of these already on a ST 1300???

# 2 ~~~ What opinions do you have which will work,,, and which won't given the size of each...

# 3 ~~~ Anything else out there that I need to look at too??? I have 2 magnet tank bags and BOTH are to big for the spot on the ST 1300... I am REALLY,,, trying to find something that stays off the tank like these do...

Help!!! Help I SAY!!!

Can't help with the others you are asking about. I use a small tank bag magnetic and does not interferr with full lock to lock steering or the Dell which sits in a cradle with a magnet base.

I really like this better than my magnetic tank bag.

1:45 EST, I called. No answer.

I emailed and asked if it would fit on the ST1300 without interference.

I don't know who of the 3 you called but I have spoken to all 3 now... The owner/designer of the Luggage Locker I just got off the phone from even!!!

He said that he spent quite a bit of time designing the Luggage Locker for the ST... With the ST Gas Cap so far forward it posed a problem for him so he designed it from scratch for the ST...

He told me that the bag only goes about 2 inches forward of the Gas cap and on mine,,, with my Street Pilot III GPS installed in the middle of my Handlebars oo my mount on the Livebaitlarry risers,,, I think about 4 or 4 1/2 inches is all I would have so,,, that sounds good...

He also said that he designed the mounting plate a little different on the ST bag so as to not contact the horn/windshield as firmly as it would have if he would have left it like all the rest are made for "Other" bikes... The front of the bag is narrower than the rear so as to help in that cause too... I didn't write down the front measurement while we talked but I THINK,,, it is about 7 inches at the front and 9 inches at the rear of bag...

He was VERY nice and I had a brain fart and should have asked him about getting a "Group Buy" from him... :(

I now have it down to deciding between the Big Mak or the Luggage Locker... The Luggage locker even with the additional $20 for the upgraded waterproof fabric will still be cheaper than the Big Mak... I don't think you could go really wrong with either of these 2... Decisions,,, desisions... ;)

I looked at the Luggage Locker almost years ago and was very impressed, but at that point he had nothing for the ST. I could be enticed into a group buy.....:03biker: .

I called and emailed bigmaka. No answer yet. I would like to get something to replace my magnetic tank bag which is a holdover from my previous bike, a cruiser.

I also like the idea of the lock. Ha Ha, let's see, I have:
- ignition key
- top box key
- xena disc lock key
- house key
and now possible a tank bag lock key.

I have started carrying my other keys separate from my ignition key anyway since with the LBL risers the keys get tangled up. I did put some chrome tape in the gap left by the risers, but it's not exactly what I want.

Austin C L, with the luggage locker, I guess you have to remove it to fill up? The thing I liked about the bigmaka was the filp up to fill. Of course, with the bigmaka as well as my magnetic bag, I am leery to leave it on the bike when I stop at Cracker Barrell to eat. Out of sight, easy theft. With the locking bag, I guess someone could steal the contents but at least not the whole bag.

seiseman~~~

I just sent off an E-Mail to him to see what chance we might have for a group buy... I will let you know what I find out ASAP...

I too really like the Bigmaka but,,, I think with the room I have it would NEVER tip forward so,,, that cool feature would be lost on the ST as it is designed by Bigmaka today...

The only way to take it off would be to release the holding strap and slide it off... Not a big deal but,,, bag - bag comparison??? I think,,, the Luggage Locker looks more like what I want anyway...

The Bigmaka does not come standard with a map pocket... It increases the height,,, and $$ invested to get a map pocket for it as it is an additional item to order...

I have decided that I am going with the Luggage Locker and will see if he is willing to cut a deal with us before ordering... Will let you know...

Terry,

I also wonder how close the Luggage Locker (and the bigmaka) would be to the gut. Fortunately (due to heart failure last year) I have lost 70 lbs., so it won't be the issue it used to be.

In the picture at Luggage Locker, it looks like on that bike you would be laying on the bag.

The measurements given are it is 13 inches long... He said it was forward of the gas cap about 2 inches or so... Which,,, means that most of it is behind the cap,,, I am setting upstairs pecking this out,,, not in the shop where the bike is but,,, somewhere I am guessing about 6 inches past the back of the cap maybe...

BUT,,, the cap on the ST is far forward so,,, I THINK,,, it will work out good...

The Bigmaka bracket sticks forward of the cap about 4 1/2 inches I was told... Then,,, the bag slides on and it is a shade farther forward... On my bike,,, my GPS sets about 4 inches forward... If this was a RT,,, I would own a Bigmaka,,, but,,, it is not... ;)
