Took my '03 for the second ride of the year today, I'm still grinning. :D BTW, a newbie is expected to do a full report with first ride impressions and pictures. :mcrider: Do a thorough inspection of your new ST, dealers have been known to miss details on a new bike delivery. I road mine home with the back tire only inflated to 22 psi. Oh and take lots of pictures, yeah we like pictures of new ST's, preferably with the proud new owner. Ride safe.- john :-P

Rode my ST today. Came home...Plexus to get rid of the unwelcome insects and then stared at it for 15 mins....wife tried to intervene....but I shusshed her...because-- I just wanted to STare at my blue STeed.

It's that good.

Hello again,

Well all I can say is WOW!. Picked it up Saturday morning. The ride home was sweet. Can you say smooth? Coming from the 84 v45 magna this thing is like butter smooth. Have yet to go above about 4000 rpm and plenty fast and gutsy. Mostly just short rides around the neighborhhod Saturday taking the wife and kids around the block and mixing in the variable weekend chores. Got a chance to get out Sunday afternoon with my wife on board. (she has not ridden with me very often) After about an hour we were both grinning. When we got back to the house she could not believe it had been an hour already. Very good handling both solo and two up. This is the biggest bike I have ever ridden and was concerned if it was going to be a handfull. So far it has proven to be every bit as balanced as everyone has said. Temp was in the mid 70's, had no heat issues. Will have to see what the Houston summer does for me. 1st farkle has been ordered from motorcycle Larry, the risers. He had the best price and it includes the ram ball mount for the GPS I will be putting on it. Also ordered the GEZAGEAR cover, large sport classic plus.

Pictures will be posted as soon as I can get my digiatal camera up and running. At this point it is pretty hard to take pictures when everytime it comes out of the garage it is being ridden.

Great , always like to get first ride impressions. Careful, don't let the ST's agility fool you she can be a handful in certain situations, like backing up a slight incline or coming to a sudden stop slightly out of balance. Otherwise she is a sophisticated lady who will offer you tons of riding enjoyment, no puns intended. :D Still awaiting pics, ride safe. :03biker: :04biker: :biker:

Here she is after her 1ST bath. Have added the heli riser from Motorcycle Larry. Have not had a chance to ride it very far after inSTalling it.

So far I have had no troubles and have really been enjoying riding her.

The cool thing is the guy I sold my 700 Magna to rides it to work also so I STill get to see that bike too. Will kind of miss it but there was no way to keep both in the STable.

Congratulations! :biker: 4000 is where the power kind of starts. Be respectful when you start using all the RPMS, it's not like your cruiser. Roll on don't yank.

I'm new to the list...

Had a 95 ST1100 and loved it, then went the sport bike route...(VTR, RC51, and now CBR1000RR), now I'm ready to get back to sport-touring...

What are you guys paying for the new 05's?

I am in San Antonio, TX and looking to purchase a non-abs ST..

Thanks

Carl, et al,

Did I ever tell you about when I installed my top box? With Swambo on the back, I pulled out of our street onto a nice straight stretch of road and at maybe 10-15mph snapped the throttle all the way (WFO). :22yikes: The beaST reared up like the Lone Ranger on Silver. Scared the stuff out of Swambo ;) It didn't scrare me though - - at least not as much as her. :D

In HouSTon I paid 14300 for the ABS version, about 1100 less than that for the non abs version would be a good guess. :biker:

That's not a bad price at all really for the Houston area... I bought mine at Wild West in Katy... they only got 1 ST1300... it happened to be ABS... I had to fight tooth and nail NOT to pay MSRP. Could have gone to another dealer, but they have always treated well and their service department is the best! :D

Ride safe,
Robert

I picked up my "05 non-ABS for $13,000 from Rob's Performance in Johnson Creek, WI. Great dealer with great service. I could've gotten it for $600 less from a crap dealer. Rob also threw in heated grips, accessory harness, and 12 volt accessory plug. I'm very pleased with the deal.
