I hadn't been the Salton Sea; pretty, with an amazing amount of fowl.
Jack and Chris thought the dried fish on the shore were foul... :)
The company was great.
The ride through Box Canyon and Joshua Tree N.P. was fun (both directions).
The dinner was great.
The company was better than great!
The swag drawing was fun!
The place was interesting.
And the moon was friggin bright! :)
I'll post pictures after I get them off the camera...

Had a GREAT! time with everyone at the Salton Sea. Was good to see a few familiar faces and meet many new ones.
Seemed everyone but me missed the full moon on Thursday but there was plenty moon light to go around the following nights, like Mark said: it was friggin bright.
Here are a couple of pictures from my Webshots album, plenty more there.
Thats the sun going down on Thursday, the smoke made it across the sea on Thursday but was gone the following evening.

Friday everyone started showing up.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d59/ownst1100/DSCN8342.jpg
Lots of tents.
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d59/ownst1100/DSCN8345.jpg
And many new friends

I didn't do the Box Canyon ride but did make a trip out to Slab City, very interesting.
Thanks Fred for putting this event together, the spaghetti dinner was the best.
Alicia, I hope your doing well and was hoping to meet you at the event, maybe next year as im sure there will indeed be a next years as I feel SeaSTOCK was a huge success.

The scenery today was GREAT. I had never been to the West shore, only the East shore. What a difference! Definetely going back again. Great to meet Fred who is a genuinely good guy who should be MOTM for all his good Karma here.
Thanks!

Home safe n sound. posted that on the wrong thread earlier, Doh!
Great job on this event Fred & your #1 supporter Terrie. Providing camp dinner Saturday night was sure going above & beyond. Really wante to thank you two.
Yes, The Sea campground was MUCH better that I expected. The camping concept was also very cool. It's amazing how good food & coffee with grounds in it can taste when you're camping.
The ride though box canyon & the Joshua Tree was another highlight of the trip. Mark & Jack did a great job of leading at a pace that was fast enough to be exciting, yet sane enough to give us a chance to enjoy the sights & surroundings. Chris did a great job of leading us into 29 Palms so we could tie on the feed bag. That was the only meal consumed out of camp.... With my eating habits, I would have bet money that I couldn't do that!
Got lots of pics but have only resized a couple so far.
Was great to see Mortorcycle Larry again & Major Thanks to the Vendors & ST-Owners for providing swag... I't very cool to come home with a memento of the trip.
Can't wait for the next SeaSToc and or the next CampSToc. Gonna have a new stove by then!

Good job Fred,
Had at really good time. Meet lots of great people. Loved to hear all the stories that people had about their cycle trips. Had a bit of one myself, Chula Vista to seaStoc - round trip 2231 miles. Thanks to you & Teri for the spaghetti dinner, excellent.
Came home down Hwy 78 with Dana. Clear all the way. Then went down Lions Valley - fire burned to the south side of the road, then Dear Valley Rd. - burned on both sides down to Otay Lakes road - all the way down to Otay Lakes. Saw only 3 structures burned. Those fire fighters did a great job.
Don't harsh my mellow, John
That would be a Saturday morning SUNRISE pic Fred.
Great shots Mark & Jack!!
Oh... Sunrise... you must have been one of the guys that got some sleep! The rest of us were kept in a half-sleep being forced to listen to the snoring chorus the rest of the time... :D
Thanks,
I did forget to mention that Jack took many of those shots while one the bike and moving... (some of the foregrounds have an interesting blurring effect).

Fred:Thanks for a great outing. I rode down Saturday morning and left that evening, but next year I will bring my tent and bag and stay the weekend. I really enjoyed meeting some of you for the first time and reaquainting with others. I want to thank the vendors for the goodies. I have to buy some aux lights at the next TechSToc to mount on the brackets Turbo Tom donated (and I won).
I would love to see the look on ST Alicia when she gets her poster!

Great pics Mark and Jack!!! And I thought I was the only Californian who wrapped his date! LOL.
OK, here's my SeaSTOC I (yep! I! There's going to be another one next year!) camp pics...
1. Bikes park at camp at night.
2. This was weird! This bird (see it?) sitting on John Diego's clutch lever loved John's bike! It kept coming back and back to it! Nifty!
3. Bob bored to tears at my stories about Oragomi. :D
4. Gerald (a Iraq war vetern with a Purple Heart! Thank you for your service Gerald!), Wayne, Camp Hostess (Host) Keith and Motorcycle Larry.
5. Cool John Diego arrived with his ST after a week of solo riding in Utah. :clap2:
6. Keith and Motorcycle Larry, with Keith's party-crashing BMW. The nerve! That BMW was the best farkled bike I have ever seen! Keith has bike camping down to a art! He said he was invited to write a bike camping article for a BMW publication. :clap2:
7. Motorcycle Larry checking out the bikes at 5am in the morning.
8. Rick, Chris, John Diego, Dana and John around the campfire.
9. John Diego, John, Rick and Bob sitting around camp.
10. Rick. See that ghost-spot above his head like he's looking at it! "I see dead people..." Nah Rick, it's just Halloween!  :D
A quick mention about Rick from Riverside! A new ST-Owners.com member! Very nice together guy! This was his first bike camping trip. He had great time trying out his camping STuff! I just know he'll do it again and soon! Congrats Rick for surviving two nights outside on the ground! Yea! :clap2: :hotpepper
What a great bunch of guys (and gals)! I had the one of the best times of my life! And all the laughs! Best of all; nobody harshed my mellow!!! :22yikes: ;) :D

Dude! We warned you about Califonrian's breathing habits! LOL. And heck, you live and breath through 5 days of fire and smoke! :22yikes: ;) :D And I though it was the mile-long trains running right by us ALL NIGHT LONG!!! :( :D
It was really great meeting you Mark, and your lovely ST1300-riding-wife Chris and great son Jack! Boy! Can that kid eat! LOL.

Thanks Fred, Terrie, and all for a great time.
This was my first time meeting the group and my first (but not last) motorcycle camping trip. I’m learning want I need to bring along and what should stay home.
The campground and weather were very nice and I hope this becomes an annual event.

I agree that is good shot. Jack that one as well.. I passed on your complement.
Chris and Jack said the sea reminded the of a horror movie setting; Jack said he expected cheezy sea monster to erupt from the mist. :)

Ok, here (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583) are most of the pictures I took. I always just post mine on the event gallery. If anyone wants higher resolution pictures, let me know and I'll work something out with a photo dump site that I have access to.

Fred, Fred, Fred, you're going to have (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583) to come up to date with learning how (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583) to click the links when offered. Try clicking on the word "here (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583)" in my previous post, or what the heck (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583) you can click on any word here (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583) that begins with an "h (http://www.st-owners.com/pp_gallery/showgallery.php?cat=583)" that appears in this post too!
Thanks Joe, some of the panorama shots are a bit anemic under the new 800 x 800 restriction though.

Forgive him Dana.. he's Pooped..
dteel
10-29-2007, 03:05 PM
Well, I was thinking that he's had plenty of time to un-poop since yesterday. Maybe the entire weekend was more taxing than I first thought. Being "Artsy Fartsy" must be hard work, thank goodness that I don't have that talent, I'm tired enough without it.

Yes! I am pooped! I'm still unpacking the truck! I got to get the newenough.com info to Joe, put the stuff away, hook up my laptop to my 42" plasma TV, call all my girlfriends that I'm back, etc., etc...
Maybe this will help!

I know, Fred thinks I hide things from him. I'm just not a big, bold, blue, underline, with center, and clapping smiley kind of guy.
Fred, you know we love you, you take all the joking and teasing better than anyone I know. Someone at SeaSTOC asked me if you set yourself up on purpose like that or not. I told him I didn't know, but is sure was fun delivering the punch lines!

Interesting that you are the only one who does it... constantly! I guess it's because of the way I was brought up. To respect folks and not hurt their feelings for no reason. I would never think to like call you fat, or balding, or you won't shut the heck up and when you do you don't listen, or you think you know it all, and you're a unsafe motorcyclist. I just wouldn't do it... It's mean and you lose respect and friendships that way. ;) :D :crackup
Say hi to Vicki! Sorry she couldn't make it. :)

I missed SeaSTOC, too, family reasons. Plan to be there next year, tho, given no conflicts.
