I have my Symtec grip heaters, BMW grips, Vista Cruise, Quartet harness, and Heli risers ready for install and need tips for install.

Will I have to trim some off the right BMW grip when I install the Vista Cruise?

Does the Yamaha Vista Cruise require enlargement of the hole in order to fit over the throttle sleeve?

Is it best to use a screw, into the switch housing, to secure the Vista Cruise?

Any tips for installing the Heli risers?

I inSTalled the heli risers this afternoon. Pretty much STraight forward. Word of caution, be careful not to drop anything or it might vanish. Also may be a little tough getting the hardware to break loose. Cover all surfaces that you dont want scratched.

Let me know how the inSTall goes of the ViSTa cruise and the quartet harness.

I just installed the BMW grips on my '03--no sweat deal. I already had the Vista Cruise installed, but I didn't have to trip any off any of the BMW grip.

As to installing the Vista Cruise, I used double back sticky tape to hold it against the switch housing, and then put in drop of silicon sealer to make sure. I'd have to say that using a small screw to hold it against the housing is probably a cleaner installation.

Cover the tank with a fender cover or blanket. The bars will likely lean on it, or hit it at least once or more during the install.

Rather than trim the grip, all you need to do is sand off some of the area on the vistacruise (the area which follows the contour of the grip) using a dremel tool with a medium stone bit.....i used the dremel bit in a drill press to slightly increase the diameter to fit the sleeve and remedy the grip hitting the contour and it worked perfect. I used a screw to secure it.

Just completed my install on my 05 ST/A. Things I wish I knew before I started:

--the plastic covers over the hex bolts are shaped like mushrooms, i.e., flat on the top and a stem that goes down into the hex bolt. I thought they were cylindrical and tried to pry them off with a small screwdriver. Instead, slide a small pocket knife horizontally under the cap and lift. If you drop one, it could be gone forever. They cost $3.50 each at the dealer. Don't ask me how I know.

--I used a 6mm hex socket to loosen the four hex bolts on the stock assembly--they are very tight. Sears has them for about $5.50. I also needed an off-set 14mm socket to get under the head assembly to hold the lower nut. Again, Sears has them for about $9.

--Don't worry about the wire harness in front of the bars. Slide the single wire out of the loom (wire "keeper") on the rear of each bar.

--Cover the tank and I would recommend wrapping the handle bars as well. The bars are coated with a clear coat finish and I nicked mine a couple of times.

I've put a couple of hundred miles on my bike since I added the riser, and I very happy with the new position.

Good luck, Bob

In this article it mentions a 14mm off set socket to get to the lower nut. In the instructions it mentions a offset 14mm hex wrench. I am not crystal clear on what this is, have an idea but??????

Anyone have a pic of this or a craftsman part number that I could look up to find it?

Would surely appreciate it, installing Heli Bars tomorrow and want to keep damage to a minimum, just kidding, nothing at all. :D

Thanks for the hints guys. I installed the Heli risers yesterday and it was a very easy job. I am still waiting for the Symtec grip heaters so I can't start that job yet.
