Last week someone was discussing clutch, brake, fluid, bubbles...toil and trouble....
I called Speedbleeders and had a nice chat with one of the owners. He offered members of the forum this discount:

Hello Forest,

It was nice talking to you as well. As I stated during our conversation, members of your bike group can get a 10% discount of their Speed Bleeder order just for asking......when ordered from www.speedbleeder.com (http://www.speedbleeder.com/). All they have to do is make the request in the comment box when they place their order.

Thanks

Forest,

Would you know if the same Speedbleeder SB8125L for Nissin calipers will fit the PCV bleeder port?

Speedbleeders couldn't help on that and I am not sure which size to order for the PVC.

In the meantime wjbertrand posted a link to this little jewel (http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=MRX_BB1&tier2=14), so I might give that a try first!

Double check me, but I think all the brake bleeders on the 1300s are the same part number 43352-568-003. So, yes the 8125s will fit.

I tried that little 'jewel' on my previous bike...once. It made a quick trip to the dumpster.

Get the Mity-Vac or a similar, well made pump. I think Sears and some of the other tool shops carry nice metal ones (more expensive but should last longer).

Forest, thanks for posting this. I'm getting ready to pull the bike apart for service again and I might see about ordering these for the ST.

Fred,

Thx for the help.

What's confusing is that Speedbleeders indicates there are two type of calipers used on the 1300: Tokico and Nissin. And they require different Bleeders. Speedbleeders also indicates that some 1300s have both type calipers (mine is all Nissin).

So if the PVC is shown with the same bleeder as the brakes, which one is it....Nissin or Tokico (Tokico takes the SB7100S speedbleeder)?

SB8125L for all Nissin calipers....I'm not sure about the PVC.
I can check today...as I have all the plastic off. I do believe that the SB125L is the correct application for the ST1300 NIssin calipers.

Michael (at Speedbleeder) also gave the the heads up on the fact that their Speedbleeders are packaged and resold to auto parts stores. Unfortunately, most of the packages are "assortments" of different size bleeders (at least here in the Dallas area)...so, while they appear to be less expensive than going to the source, you end up paying more to get what you really need. (8 bleeders is what I believe someone noted in another thread) Also...the stainless bleeders are not available in the auto parts stores. (If you want to go that way) If people want to go the auto parts store route....go to the self help racks and look for the bleeders in red packaging.

Maybe Paul B. will see this and help clarify.

AFAIK the only part number for ST1300 brake bleeders is 43352-568-003, at least that's the only number shown in Service Honda's fiche.

Don't know where Speedbleeder is getting their info. I see nothing in the fiche that indicates two makes of (OEM) calipers.

Oh, another FWIW, I ordered 8125Ls all the way around - except for the right front outer bleeder. the length of the 8125L looked like it might be awkward to get a tube on it, so I'm going to install an 8125 in that location.

Difference being the length, right?

Matt,

Just curious...I ordered one of these but have not yet tried it. What was the problem with it?

I have a Mity-Vac, but my complaint with that is none of the supplied nipples would stay on the bleeder tight enough to do it as a one-man job. I had to constantly "very tightly" hold the nipple on with one hand while I used the Mity Vac with the other. This prevented me from standing up and keeping an eye on the reservoir level.

Am I the only person who can reach the caliper nipples while squeezing and releasing the brake lever? Why would you need Speedbleeders on a bike?

So after some time how do you all like the speed bleeders??

How many bleeders are needed for an ST1300 (ABS, if that matters). I see 2 on each caliper, plus 1 for the clutch and 1 for the PCV. Are there any elsewhere in the system?

For those who have installed them, can you verify the the 8125L is correct for all , or would shorter (8125) or longer (8125LL) work better in some locations?

Thanks,
