I don't know much about lifts for motorcycles...but the lift in the link below is on sale at Sears (in Dallas newspaper) for $59 (regularly $89).
Anyone familiar with the quality of this lift?

I could not get the web site to load, but, if it is the same one I have, it works good. My only complaint was that the bike seemed to want to lean forward, nothing bad.

Good price, I paid $99.00.

I need to get one that lifts the bike higher, I'm getting to old to want to be rolling around on the floor :D .

I paid around $75 at Autozone, and it's a pretty good unit.

It's a good lift, but it is very heavy. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for this one, your back will thank you.

I saw that sale ad myself this AM and was ready to tell my wife I knew what she could get me for Christmas, but then I thought about how little space I have in the garage - think I'll go check out the smaller, more expensive one. Good timing!

After seeing the "HEPH" strapped down I know which one I will go after. Thanks for initiating the thread Forest.

Thanks for the comment....the price is so good....just thought I'd check with the resident experts on such things.
I've got room in the garage (cleaned it up recently)...so I'll probably go for it.

Forest,

Look hard at the Harbor Freight motorcycle lift table. Take a look here http://community.webshots.com/user/st1100_rocks The album name is "beer holder." First picture is of my dog

Also check out this thread http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31760 it shows my bike on the lift.

You will notice in the Webshots album that the HF lift can easily be stored against a wall taking up very little space. I love my lift and would hate to think of doing the current work while working off the garage floor.

Full motorcycle lifts are odd to me. Yea, it is cool to have the bike higher up, but it does nothing to help taking both wheels off at the same time.

So with a lift, you still need a lift.....

Rob,

The HF lift has a removable panel so that the rear wheel can drop making rear wheel removal a snap, especially with a Ron Major fuel tank. Removing the front wheel does require a small sissor jack to get the front wheel off the ground as usual.

For me removing fork tubes, changing the rear wheel and performing the 109K milage check up make the lift worth it.

If you go to : http://www.gregsmithequipment.com there are some air lift tables for motorcycles that are pretty reasonably priced. $ 595.00 I am thinking of getting one for my garage... (Now, if I can just make the room.... )

An easy way to get better support when putting your bike on a lift/jack is to build a support. I used a piece of 3/4" plywood slightly wider than the oil pan and long enough to go from where the center stand contacts the block to the front of the engine. Hold the plywood against the bottom of the pan and measure the distance up to the center stand contact pads on the block. Cut down a piece of 2x4 to this dimension and short enought to fit the recess. I used drywall screws to hold it to the end of the plywood.

On my lift the support sits over the rear lift rail and balances the bike front to rear pretty good. I then strap the bike to the lift using the tip-over support framing. I'll try and dig up some photos.

Found them in this thread (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21435&highlight=2x4).

+1 on the HF lift. I'm not familiar with Sear's.

Hmmm, OK. I don't have much experience working with that type of lift. I mostly use my cool little rolling seat and a lift. I have worked on lowered cars for years so a bike on the ground is way higher. LOL

I like the one Rob posted so thanks Rob!

The idea of a full stand is nice...a friend of mine has a nice pneumatically operated one in his garage but we just do not have the space for that type of stand.

Maybe in January...

I just read the reviews on the $59 from Sears (the reviews are listed under one of the tabs along with the specs). Of the 66 reviews, most said it was a waste of money. With that said, you might not want to spend even the $59 on it. If you look at the reviews for the second, more expensive Sears one listed above, it has almost all favorable reviews. Just a thought....

If you go to Costco, they sell essentially the same lift but they include (4) ratcheting tie down straps and a gas filled stool seat to work on your bike from for about $49, depending on where you are at. I strap my ST1300 down to it and pull off the wheels when I change tires with no help from anyone, very easy! Good stuff and same as Sears, walk in with a complaint, walk out with a new unit. But three ST's and lots of tires over the 120k miles and no breakdowns on the lift.

Well, Santa (hubby) ordered my Xmas gift Tuesday. It just happens to be a lift table. :D

http://www.asedeals.com/ATV_motorcycle_lift.html

It will be here before Christmas. I'm doing a happy dance:hotpepper

If you buy a lift table you should make sure they are either hydraulic or electric. The straight air assist have a tendency to rocket up and down. I went with the Ranger because of the hydraulic cylinder, the drop down rear section, the front vise and side rails. They were all included in the price. Snap-on carries a similar unit and they want $3000 for it. Ouch!

I'll check that out as I'm headed to Costco in a few minutes. I walked by it but didn't give it a good look...wife can't be with me when I do...

UPDATE:

Our Costco did not have any m/c jacks. All they had were two different automotive jacks (I want one of those as well). These are the model's I found at Costco's website:

Torin Aluminum M/C jack (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11187436&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US): 1500lb capacity: $190
Larin M/C Lift (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11195816&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|3960&N=4001205&Mo=34&No=3&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=21277&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav=): 1500lb capacity, air powered hydrolic lift: $950

I've got one of these that I bought a couple of years ago to work on my Arctic Cat four-wheeler. It's a great lift. I haven't used it on my ST yet, but it's just a matter of time.
