Hi All ,
I have a chance to run a group buy with Bagster, for tank covers and any of their bags.
First I'd like to run it for the ST1300, but if there was enough interest, I could run it for the ST1100 as well.
Just testing the interest. Please let me know what you think .
I would just organize the buy, you'd deal directly with the vendor .... or not. It would be up to you......

How much $$ are we talking for a bra and bag?
birdie_xx

How does 15% off sound ?
Plus shipping.... $10 - $15 (48 States - have to check AK !)

15% off what? How much does a bagster bra and bag run retail? I did a couple web searches and really couldn't find too many prices listed. Just links back to the bagster site.
birdie_xx

Bagster is a two piece system. The tank cover (for ST1300) retails at $138. The cover has attachements for the bags, which range in sizes....
As far as I can see they run from $101 (8.5 L bag) to $182 for the double bag (23L + 14L).... So the discounts would be from these prices.
I'll explain everything and show more speciffic prices, if the sale were to happen. I'd also explain colors and bags that are available for each year of the ST ('03, '04 and '05).......

Hi everyone
I would encourage this buy, as I've just acquired a black Bagster tank cover/bra, and matching 29-liter Bagster tank bag.
There have been some, perhaps justifiable, criticisms of the ST13's appearance from some quarters (the BMW owners' website, for example!) that the ST looks a little bit like a scooter! - NB: any scoot that can accelerate to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds is still some machine! Nevertheless I reluctantly acknowledge that the ST13 aesthetics does have some scooter overtones. This subjective opinion, in my view, is simply down to far too much of the bike's color on display, e.g just to much silver, or blue, or the new red.
The tank cover/bra completely transforms the top half of the bike into a predominantly black appearance. The 'scooter' similarities then completely disappear, at a single stroke, by fitting the cover/bra.
You will have to put-up with the "Pan-European" emblems down the flanks of the cover (see pics - I hope these show-up), which - BTW - are professionally machine-stitched into the item by Bagster. As a Pan-European owner I am delighted with these emblems, but some of you US-based brothers might not like this feature so much.
Finally, consider getting the new "Athena" model of the tank bag, which replaced the "Omega" version. The "Athena" doubles-up as a handy rucksack, which is a great utility to have.
Just my two-pence worth.
Good luck with the group buy; I hope you pull it off. If you need any help, however, from this side of the Pond, then give me a shout.
Ride on.

Thanks Keith (UK) ...
There are colors speciffic to each US year for the covers. There is no '05 bag I'm afraid, but the one matching '92-'93 ST1100 or '00-'03 ST1100 would work for me, if I were to buy it. One is a bit lighter, the other is darker....
I guess I should have posted this as well....

(This is the light siver ST not available here.....)
Of course there is the black option as well. I think all bags are available in black.....

Hey Leo et all
I would caution anyone trying to match these Bagster accessories' colors to the color of their bike. It just ain't gonna work, as IMHO it is impossible to replicate a metallic finish on PVC material successfully; it's bound to look naff at the end of the day - just can't be done. The black, however, will look terrific with any colored machine.
Just a word of caution. If ya gonna spend some dough - spend it wisely!
Ride on.

Sign me up for one ST1100 black bra and bag. I'm leaning towards the Alpha since it looks like the only bag that is expandable. Not sure if the Athena is available for the early model ST or not, but I don't see it listed in the application guide. Do they have pics for the 1100? I didn't see any...

As mmuch as it's true about the metal flake and gloss finish (Bagster is working on it, I've seen samples......and I personally didn't like them - they seem to scratch eassy and look very "plastic"), the colors of Bagster are very close in my opinion. Alsthough, you can tell there is cover on the tank.
My bike is pressent at some shows around the Country, at the GIVI display and I get a lot of compliments and constant questions whether the cover was custom made and do "we" sell it......

I'm going to start the "official" group buy in a couple of days. I don't want anyone to think it's the April Fool's day thingy.... :D
BTW, the ST1100 cover MSRP is $137, so take the 15% off of that.....

Peter - Any way to maybe scan in the application sheet? Also, is there a dimension chart showing the different options in relation to each other? My only concern would be getting too wide. Horn button farkle may not be too far in the future...
I'm looking at the "showroom" page on their site, they just don't have a standard information set on all the bags.

Am interested in a bra (black) for my st. Do you have a pic?. In case anyone needs a translator for Keith (across the pond rider) rucksack is a backpack. :) :biker:

Leo, I'm not sure what you mean....
pomorritt, look at the earlier posts.....
Dale_I, my application sheet lists the bags as numbers...
And pretty much list all the bags for the ST's.....
I found the dimentions on the Alpha (L - 40cm, W- 26cm, H- 27cm), Omega ( L - 45, W - 27, H - 30), Roppongi ( L - 38, W - 23, H - 17) and Shibuya ( L - 37, W - 22, H - 14 ) .
All bags have the capacity listed.
I used the Alpha on my ST1100. And the horn never sounded while on the move, only in the parking situations... ;) :p: , when I forgot to cover it with my thumb.

I'm not seeing a big difference in the Tektra and the Athena?
birdie_xx
03-29-2005, 02:21 PM
I'll have to check that. The '05 catalog shows different dimentions then the price sheet I have and a different picture then the web site.
Athena - expadable to 30L (catalog), 29L(price sheet) - the map loaded from the top ( on the handlebar side)
Tektra - expandable to 30L (catalog), 24L (price sheet) - the map loads from the bottom (on the seat side).
The catalog shows the same color sellection for both.....

Hi Keith I beg to differ.
I purchased the red tank cover (bra) at the NEC in Nov 04 and the colour match is just fine. For those who do not know we have had a 3 colour choice per year for some time. Your new 05 Red was available here last year. I had a Suzuki Bandit 1200S a couple of years ago and had purchased a colour coded bag which as luck has it matches the ST1300.
I have been using these products for a long time and have used them in anger on the Continent on naked bikes, GS trail style bikes and tourers and I have nothing but praise.
I just realised that if you have really good eye sight you could see the bag in the picture on the left :D :D :biker:

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I've already got a new [black] Bagster tank cover/bra, which now sits proudly on my '04 Silver ST13A/Pan. I also acquired a matching "Athena" expandable tank bag to go with it.
But I found that routing the forward retaining straps around the steering head bottom yoke a bidofa 'swine job', with plenty of cussing thrown-in during the fitting process. Got it just right in the end though. It all looks great now.
Had my first 90-mile ride-out this weekend with the cover/bra on. Just love pressing my thighs into those padded side cheeks (in the non-sexual sense of the expression, of course!)
I'll take some pics today of the combo and [try to!] post them here later ... er, wish me luck!

Said I'd post some pics of my new Bagster combo. So here they are.
Sorry about the quality of the images, but (1) I snapped them using a low-resolution digi camera; (2) perhaps I might have had the shakes this morning!
Not sure if I can upload all the pics in one go; might need more than one posting.
In summary: The black cover looks really good and transforms the STeed's appearance. The matching cargo bag - when fully expanded - is almost like having a third saddle bag/pannier, and for this reason will add real value to my long-distance touring.

... and ...
... don’t forget that the ‘Athena’ bag version: (a) morphs into a ruck sack -or- ‘back pack’ in US speak; and (b) Bagster even throws-in a handy shower cap into the bargain! (now then, just how many beers did I drink last night?!)
Good luck with the group buy.

Cool pictures, Keith. Thanks !
Hopefully one more day and we will start ! I'm waitting for the right person at Bagster's importer, to be back in the office tomorrow.....
Just love pressing my thighs into those padded side cheeks (in the non-sexual sense of the expression, of course!)
This is an aditional bonus I forgot about. It really is more "comfortable" (and "warmer" in the cold weather !), to "hug" the tank with your legs when the tank has the Bagster cover on.......
Stay tuned, please.

Ok, here it goes....
Thank you for your patience !
This is an e-mail I received from the Bagster Importer .....
"Bagster Group Buy details"
Dear Friends,
The Group Buy for BAGSTER starts today April 5, 2005 until April 26, 2005 .
Bagster makes full-coverage tank covers, convenient tank-bags (which attach to the tank cover with clips, without any straps or magnets) and seat covers. With more than 20 years of experience, the quality of their products is proven. All products are made of high-quality vinyl or resilient nylon (for some of the tank bags). The tank covers are lined with a soft material, specifically designed not to scratch your paint. All large tank bags come with straps to turn them into backpacks, and rain covers. Seat covers must be stapled onto your existing seat. Some models have embroidery showing the model or the bike.
During this period, you will have the opportunity to purchase BAGSTER products for your motorcycle, Honda ST1300/1100, with a 15% discount. No discount will be given after the set dates, so hurry up!
The promotion is limited to the products that Bagster manufactures for your ST1300/1100). Products for other bikes can be ordered at the same time, but at regular price.
We cannot give you prices now, we will send a quote for each request (price vary per year, color, etc.), and if some tank covers may have the same price, you can choose various tank bags, with various prices.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS.
1- First, go to Bagster’s website. The following links will help you find your bike. But you need to make sure that the year and color are right for your bike.
http://www.bagster.com/en/moto/catalogue.php?id_marque=1&id_cylin=4&id_modele=ST%201300%20PAN%20EUROPEAN&id_annee=2005 (ST1300)
http://www.bagster.com/en/moto/catalogue.php?id_marque=1&id_cylin=4&id_modele=ST%201100%20PAN%20EUROPEAN (ST1100)
If none of the links applies to your bike, please do the following: go to Bagster’s website at www.bagster.com. (Please click on any of the blue words on the left, then go to “Catalog” (on the left of the next page) and fill out the questions until you reach the page that shows you all the Bagster products that go on your bike).
2- You will see what the tank cover looks like (if there is no photo for your specific year/color, please check another year).
3- Choose a tank bag. Some come color-matched to your tank bag.
4- If available, choose a seat cover.
5- When you are ready, please send me an e-mail, with "BAGSTER Group Buy - ST" in the subject line at peteski3@sbcglobal.net.
In the e-mail, please include:
Your full name
Your bike (brand, model, year, color)
Tank cover - Yes/ No - color
Tank Bag - Yes/No - style, color
Seat Cover - Yes/No - style, color
You can find the reference number under each product on the website, but please contact me, if there are any questions regarding the selection.
Please include your shipping address (No P.O. box!) - indicate business/residential, daytime phone number, your e-mail address...
6- Upon reception of your email, we will send you a quote for each product. There is the $10 shipping fee for one item, or $15 for two.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU PLACE AN ORDER:
Please understand that all those pieces are made to order. Bagster has been making custom tank covers for more than 20 years and they are very accurate in their fitting and manufacturing, so you can trust them to make it right.
We will check each piece before we send it out to you to make sure that it looks perfect. We will not accept any return for “not liking it”, only for justified warranty issue. Also, it is unrealistic to expect that the color of the cover will match exactly your motorcycle, but you can be sure that it will be as close as possible.
7- If the order is correct, to the Bagster Importer Cima International will contact you for the payment. They accept VISA and Mastercard. They will charge your card at the time of the order.
The delivery time is approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
Please contact me with any questions you may have, either via this forum or through my e-mail - peteski3@sbcglobal.net
Hope this will work for you !
Happy shopping !
Cheers,
Dale_I

Just thought I might mention how painless this purchase is. Thanks to Peter for coordinating it. I emailed my info, recieved an email back (rather quickly I might add), and when I made a phone call to give them a credit card number, they already had all the info pulled into an estimate and were waiting for me to call.
Great deal, quality product, easy order, really no reason not to do it if you are thinking about it...

Got the bra and bag yesterday :ups1: Arrived in good condition and seems to be operational (zippers work) :D . I was in the middle of replacing a rear end on a truck and didn't have time to play with it too much. No instructions or installation pages sent with it, but it is pretty straight forward. Attach this here and that there. I just lined up the straps and clips to areas where they would pull straight on the stitching to minimize the ability to tear out. I decided to cross the "shoe string" straps at the bottom of the tank bag to opposite sides to pull down rather than out.
Really, once I played with it a bit I took it back off because I need to remove the plastic for some maintenance I will be doing over the weekend. However, I thought I would let you all know that it is here, seems to be nice quality and good fit.
The only concern I have is the upper clips that have the rubber straps seem to be made so the clip is angled compared to the strap, which leads to the rubber pulling out of the clip partially on the rear of the clip where it is broken to insert the strap. If other ST1100 owners find this to be true, let me know. Or, maybe I just haven't installed it right.

Received the cover and bag today :) . Installation required the fuel tank to be put up to get the side hooks under the tank lip, but all went well. I want to thank all for the opportunity to aquire this quality addition to the ST. The "feel" between my knees is a pleasant surprise compared to the bare tank.

Hi all,
I know this is an old thread but I have a question that those of you who got a Bagster cover and tankbag might be able to answer.
If you have risers (up & back), do the handlebars interfere with your tank bag and/or the clips they use to secure the bag to the front of the cover? The reason I ask is that the risers on my Tiger sure interfere with the attachment points and I can't turn the handlebars fully side to side.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
