Congratulations Mac! I know you are on the road, but know you will be checking in! :)
Update: Mac finally came home and wrote a little something for us:
Well first let me tell you it was a surprise when Joe informed me I was
MOTY. And he told me I was also MOTY over on the motocampers board.
And thank all of you who voted for me. I thought someone who put on
one of the bigger SToc events would get the award.
A little about myself: I rode my first motorized 2 wheeler in the summer of
1958. I know to some of you that is prehistoric. A friend had a Whizzer
and let me take it for a ride. Wide open down hill, maybe 15 MPH. But I
didn’t have to pedal after I got it rolling!!! I was hooked on motorized two
wheelers from that day on.
Another friend had a 125 cc Lambretta and
we rode that thing all over my home county, two up. When it was cold
out, like in December, I got to ride up front and block the wind. One
evening we went into the Village and running down the road at 60, I
couldn’t keep my earmuffs on and when we pulled into Isaly’s my ears
were frozen. They are still extremely sensitive to the cold.
I didn’t get my own motorcycle until I had joined the Navy. I was in the
Submarine Force for 20 yrs and 9 mos. None of them were yellow, but
the song was popular during my time in the service. In late 1964, I bought
a used 1964 Triumph Bonneville. WOW, that was a fast little 650. I learned
so much about riding by listening to more experienced guys in the bars on
the strip in Charleston SC.
After the ’64, I got a new ’67 Triumph
Bonneville, and then traded that one on a new ’67 TR6C. Then I went
racing in the dirt. Had a blast for several years, then I fell in love and got
married so the racing got curtailed, raised a family but still had a bike of
some kind. Went to a couple of R75’s, an H1, a Sidewinder, then I bought
my first Gold Wing in ’84. Honda brought out the 1500 in ’88 so I went
down and bought the first one sold in Hampton VA. I rode that thing for
over 120,000 miles before I traded it on a ’98. The ’98 lasted only long
enough to get me to Alaska and back and then the 1800 came out.
Put 103,000 on the ’01 and traded it on an ’06. The rest of the
story you folks already know, crashed it in July and bought an ’02 and crashed it in November. So why did I buy an ST???? I wanted to see if I could still ride something a bit more sportier than a Wing. It has been fun, believe me.
Why did I ride to so many places and SToc events?? I have been a
member of GWRRA for what seems like forever, but they are not the
group that we have on ST-Owners. They don’t ride the way most of us
do. I made a promise to myself late last year that I was going to do as
many SToc events as I could in ’07. The reason was for a fella who I met
at CampStoc last May. I only knew him for 23 hours, but he made such an
impression on me that I’ll never forget him. I have a patch in my tank bag
that reads “In Memory of Kent Saxton”. My pillion pegs have been down
since his funeral in San Diego and they will remain down as long as I own
my ST. I have dedicated this year to his memory and if he has ridden with
me this year or chooses to ride with me in the future, so be it.
Thanks again everyone!!!

The MOTY selection process worked...the right person won!!
Now how can we impose this successful selection process to picking our next US President?? Maybe first step is having somebody in the candidate pool worthy of winning!?!? MAC's equal has not yet entered the Presidential race. :o:

Fitting for the Member of the Year to be on the road between Ohio and California
when finding out about his title...
Here's a pic from this morning before he left Ft Worth. He's planning on being in
Yuma, AZ by the end of the day.

For some of us who havent met Motomac, tell us about him...
Louie... this is what I wrote on my nomination email...
Hi Rob... For Member of the Year...
Hands down.... motomac (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/member.php?u=3689)!!!
He's literally "Carried the Banner" for ST-Owners all year... generously presenting it with hundreds of signatures to KempoSTer at CT STOC!
Involved in motorcycling??? Gimme a break... Certified instructor, ST and Wing Owner, St-Owner site supporter, Perfect example of ATGATT.... on and on...
Involved in ST-Owners.com??? Have you read a "coffee thread" lately????
Involved in ST-Owners events??? He not only shows up.... He makes the events "official" just by being there!!
On a personal endorsement level I must add that I find "Mac" to be one of the most generous and friendliest members that I've met. He'd share the fresh baked biscuits off his breakfast plate (I've seen it more than once).
Sincerely, this is a no brainer. Give the guy this well deserved recognition!!!
Steve Schwan
By the way, when you meet him in person (yes "when" not "if"), you will find an unassuming guy with lots of stories, who doesn't need to be the center of attention. I guess you can sum it all up by simply calling him a great example of a friend!!

MotoMac is an appropriate name. Mac rides everywhere, always, all day. Don't know how many miles he's racked up this year but its _a lot!_
As to MOTY, he's the man. Attends more events than anyone else (not just STOC events), carries the ST-Owners banner between events (he has it with him now), _and_ (maybe most important), he's removed two Gold Wings from the roads this year to make more room for STs <ducking> :D

Great Choice for a Great Guy:04biker: Ride on MotoMac !!!!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas, and may the New Year be the best for you and yours!
When I met Mac it was at lldaves anual BBQ RTE. He came all the way down to Luling Texas from Ohio cause Mac knows where the BEST BBQ comes from! Mac even wore a Texas flag shirt, I was impressed! The only thing bad about that day was that it was too short. Maybe there could be a Texas BBQ tour someday. I'll bet Mac would be there!

A great big congratulations to you Motomac! You are a man who truly inspires others in the art of motorcycling!! So now what, are we going to have to call you Motymac for the rest of the year? And for all of those mentioning his ready smile, what else do you expect? He rides an ST for crying out loud! ST and Smiles just seem to go together! Mac just happens to be the best example of this!!!:-D :-D :-D
Thanks again Mac for the OH-SToc where I first met you! What a great time! Wish I'd had time to talk with you a bit but everyone was ready for riding as soon as breakfast was done and I only had Saturtday with the crowd! Maybe at Moonshine??

First I thank all of you who voted me this Honor!!! I want to thank all of you for the congratulations above. When Joe told me at the Snooty Pig that I was the MOTY, I thought he was pulling my leg. My first thought after that: I thought most of these ST folks were above average in intelligence, how did they mess up and vote for me???? I intend to do a write up when I get back home with some of my background and why I have done what I have done this year. Believe me, it has been the best riding year of my life (including the two crashes). Thanks again for the recognition!!!!

My first ride with some STOC folks was to meet a few of them along their RTE to Pierce's BBQ in Williamsburg, VA a few weeks ago. Upon leaving, I was leading Mac (???) down I-64 East while he headed towards his son's place in NC. As it turned out, Mac used to live here, and worked for the same shipyard where I work. Nevertheless, his riding accomplishments leave me in his dust. And Mac, I don't mind eating your dust. Congrats!

I just put on a new set of tires, and still have a set in escrow out in the garage. The CB I have now doesn't CB. I get my GPS through the intercom, but I have no squelch. When I get the new one installed, I'll send the old one back to Sierra Electronics for either a new one or fix the one I send them. Then, I'll put the repaired one on my next bike, whatever that turns out to be.
