I spoke to my friend tonight and got some more info on the Skuff Kit. The material is Clear, 8-Mil. thick and is advertised to conform to curves and contours really well without bubbling. I will install a set on my bike first as a guinea pig and if any changes are needed they will be made before the kits are offered so you will get a good product.

As of now we are looking at offering 2 "Body" kits and a "Front" kit. The Body kits will cover all the areas the original kit did. The 91-94 Body kit has side panel pieces like in the original kit. The 95-02 kit has the side panel pieces designed to work with the plastic kick panels that were on these later bikes. The Front kit will work for ALL years and has 2 pieces for each mirror cover (top and sides), 2 pieces to cover the front garnish, and 1 piece to cover the front edge of the front fender.

As of now projected pricing is looking like:
91-94 Body Kit $45
95-02 Body Kit $45
91-02 Front Kit $25

He is ordering the material tomorrow and expects to have everything set up and ready to start offering the kits by the end of the week time frame.

Anyone who is interested please reply so he can have a heads up of what kind of demand to expect and plan for. I will work on getting some good pics tomorrow that represent the areas each kit will cover.

I have cut out test pieces to the Skuff Kit and taped them on my bike to demonstrate the areas of protection. These pieces are of a thinner material and left on the white backing so they can be seen. Here are the photo galleries.

Body Kit 91-94 - NOTE that the gallery only shows the side panel pieces which are specific to these years. All other pieces in the kit will be the same as in the 95-02 Body Kit.

Again, I will install a kit on my bike as soon as I get my hands on the final version. If any changes are needed they will be made before the kits are offered so you get a good final product.

Is this similar to the protection film that Honda provided for the ST1100? If it is while it worked fairly well - you could still scuff it up it did protect the plastic. The only thing that I don't like about it is that over time that tends to discolor or get "dirty" different from the bike's plastic parts. By that time I was afraid to pull if off because I was afraid I would end up with a two tone paint job.

See Picture below - realize that at this point its been on there 8 years
