Need a recommendation for my 2000 ST1100. After looking at "Radar Roy's" website, I'm leaning to the Bel RX65. I would also like to get any suggestions for a simple, inexpensive mount.
Thanks, Jack.

I have this mount for my Escort. Mounted on right reservoir.

Here are a couple of pics of my "ultra cheap" radar detector mount. Used it with my Valentine 1. I've since gone to a TurboCity shelf mount. But, this homemade mount worked great for over a year. Used a block of balsa wood and some filing/sanding to shape it to fit the dashboard. Little black paint and velcro and it was functional.

Thanks. The example Les sent mounted on the resoivor side is probably what I want. I forgot to mention I already have a Zumo 550 mounted in the middle of the handle bars using the Garmin supplied mount.
Which detector is the loudest alert, as I don't want to mess with earplugs etc?
Jack.

I run my V1 through the Autocom and into the helmet speakers or earphones if I'm wearing them. When I first got the bike, I had the V1 mounted in the center (like the pics show) and had to depend on the volume and the warning lights. At city speeds, the sound was fine, but at highway speeds I tended to notice the lights more than the sound. You may want to make the availability of external alerts (sound or light) a criteria in your detector purchase decision.

Should I go hardwire or the Powerlet route?
Jack.

I used this for visual alert with my Escort... don't know if your Bel is a Pro/Vector series though... Very bright during the day... turn it down at night :o:

Jack, I also use the visual alert from Marc Parnes. The only drawback of this is you need to look at the radar unit to see what type of alert the LEDs are sending. Otherwise it is a good addition. Unless you use earplugs/headset you will not hear alerts, except maybe sloooow speed around town.

Jack,
I have the BEL RX 65 and love it. It has the ability to display you running voltage if you choose. You can also run it into your comm unit if you choose to in order to get the audible alert.
My main riding buddy runs with the Valentine 1 and the units are pretty close on detection and warnings.
I also run the Mark Parnes visual alert mounted at top center of the dash,it is very bright.
I mount my unit on a Turbo Tom single side dash shelf.

Hey, this Marc Parnes alert looks like 'da bomb! Thanks for the referral. I did have a friend who is a very 'spirited' rider tell me is able to hear his audible alert from his Bel detector on an FZ1.

Do you use a Mix-It or Amplirider or does it connect directly?
Any pictures?
