If I can get out of Dodge, I'll be camping. How much colder will it be in NM than Tucson??? Maybe I'd better invest in a down mummy bag for this little endeavor!!!!

It will probably be around the same as Tucson was last year so your down mummy bag would be a good idea!
Highs in February usually run in the mid-60's with lows in the 30's. Sometimes it can be as warm as the mid to upper 70's. Sometimes it can be as cold as the mid to upper 20's. So plan to wear layers!

For those of you who might be joining George and I at the camprground, I just spoke with Norma and she said if you are tenting there will be no problem getting a site, but if you are in an RV, you had better get reservations. She said the RV area is pretty full right now.

Hotel stay for this one...I dont want to lock in just yet however. I will give you a yay or nay as soon as possible. Weather will play a big part. We have had a lot of snow this year. If I can get to and over Raton I'm good...

Raven,
I'm coming in from San Diego and hopefully will arrive Thursday early evening. I'll look for you at the motel and head out to the park campsite and maybe meet up with George there. If it's below freezing, I'll want the motel, but I'm good for down (bag, that is) to the 30's so I don't want to reserve.
I'm currently unemployed so the $50 for the track is not in the cards...or wallet, but I'd like to watch. Exploring on Friday and Sunday seems great, leaving Monday. Count me in on all the food events as I'm not bringing cooking gear.
PM me you're cell number in case I run into bad weather and can't make the Thursday evening...but, it'll have to be hell or high water to stop me.

High water is a possiblility. Weather is turning south on us. Stick is about ready to go but I am not. Still packing.
Motel is my default but camped last year when the temps dropped to mid-20s.
<edit> just checked again and Saturday is looking better. Friday, not so much but doable. See ya there tomorrow evening.

Let's plan to meet at the Deming Motel to plan for supper on Thursday night. There's several good restaurants in town to choose from.
I'm planning to leave Tucson around 11-ish on Thursday so should be in Deming around 3-ish.
See you there.
