Way 2 cool. I grew up in the area and graduated Hernando High class of '75. Coney Island was the HS hangout, along with the A&W drive-in on US 41. Then to the drive-in movie on Saturday night.
Brings back fondle mammaries.

I spent the 70s working in Brooksville several times a year
and there were some really good country kitchens there
...those meat and three places...ate at one every day
for three weeks in a row...us bachelors have to grab a good meal when we can...also the President of the Hernando State
Bank had his housekeeper cook for us Federal Bank examiners
every Friday....
also used to bring my Yamaha 360 up there during the dirt
bike phase...was it Crooms? cannot believe some of the things I did on that bike....
Have fun boys...wish I was there.

President of HSB? That wouldn't be old man McKeithan you're talking about?
Nice growing up in a small town like that. You pretty much knew everybody. I also used to ride Croom (Out on West Hwy50 - heading towards Orlando) On my Kawi 125 then 175.
You probably also ate at Friar Tuck's alot. If you did, you probably listened to me playing bass guitar on a Friday night ('cept during football season).
I kinda miss that simple life.

College in Gainesville in the mid seventies. Dirtbikes at Croom on the weekends. Mapquest says the Coney Island Drive Inn is only 300 miles away.
Hmm

Hey bikeopath (rimes with a word people sometimes call me)....yes, I think McKeithan is the guy always good to us
invading bureaucrats....nice to run into folks from the ole
neighborhood....
went to Tampa recently (lived there for 18 yrs) after a 20 yr.
hiatus...could not believe it, did not recognize the place...
a La Quinta Inn next to Bush Gardens where my little $15 K house used to be....those huge beautiful parrots would show up in my back yard occasionally...those were THE days...

What?? I've put a lot more than 300 miles (800+) in a day on a stock ST without a lot of problems. Don't be wimpy!!! ;) :D :D

Put on a $10 Crampbuster, get the bike out of the truck, and come on. The bike will thank you for getting out of town, it's a ST for pete's sake, they thrive on miles even stock.

OK-OK-OK, I will give it a try. I just put on a cramp buster, and am trying to figure out the wiring for the LED STOPPER gizmo. I can't find on this site as to what wire goes where and there are only 2 of them.
Any ideas on lodging?

OK, I got the 2 wires figured out for the STOPPER. The black center wire on the brake light bulb plug does not connect, I just needed the 2 outside wires, and connected it to the 2 STOPPER wires. Sorry for going off-topic.

Yep, not looking too good.
Temperature is only going to be around 80. Might have to wear socks.
It might rain at some point during the late afternoon for a few minutes.
Funny that they show no rain for us located a few miles south.

I use AccuWeather.
They seem to get the hourly forecasts dead nuts in our area, even 2 or 3 days in advance, so I stick with them.
http://www.accuweather.com/forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&zipChg=1&zipcode=34601&metric=0
Looked at weather.com and they have it raining there Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Based on forecasts, it's like AccuWeather and weather.com are looking at two different area's.
1/2 full or 1/2 empty kind of person?

It looks like 20% both Saturday and Sunday. So how all is going and where from, what time etc.? I am close to a popular gathering spot for MCs heading on rides, Rt 54 & 41 in a parking lot between McDonlads and a gas station....any others or alternate meet and ride locations?

Taking Hwy 52 just past the truck stop at I-75, north on Pasco Rd.
Then north on Scharber, which turns into Lake Lola, then turns into Spring Lake Hwy, up to 50. Great little ride.
I see old pasco rd goes to 54 near I-75, so maybe try out that route south of 52.

The hourly forecast is now up at accuweather.
They arranged for us to skip the rain.
Cloudy all day, and it will rain briefly at 11AM, and again at 5PM.
Since they are trained weathermen, they must be right..........:rain1: :sun1:

Looking at current radar, the band of rain showers is moving through faster than forecasted. It should be through by 10AM or 11Am, then clear after that until late this afternoon. Looking good for scheduled meet time!

If it wasn't for the ride and the friends I saw and new ones met the chili dog wasn't sure wasn't worth it. I had heartburn much of the way home.
Thank you Al for the RTE. I enjoyed meeting your mom. I had no idea this was like the 25th year of this or similar RTE's. Carry on.
