I need something weather proof to mount the V1 in. I have went around town looking for something I could adapt / modify to work but haven't been happy with the results. Does anyone have one of these and if so, what comments, pros/cons can you share?

Hey Charlie,
Just a bit off topic, but did your Val save your butt on the cross country
run?? (Give you plenty of time to slow down?)

Here's the link (http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Plastic-Radar-Covers-p-19099.html) to the Aerostich page. I have the $25 plastic cover for the V-1 and it works great.

Unless you use it in other vehicles, you can do what I did with my escort......put it in a baggie and mount it behind the fairing above the headlight. That way you don't have to take down when you park, it stays out of the bad weather, and is also semi-theft proof. Of course then you can't see it, but you could always rely on the audio, or use an external led.
p.s. I haven't noticed a difference in sensitivity with the detector mounted behind the fairing since I put it there last year.

I have my Bel STi Driver in a Legal Speeding clear plastic cover in the same location. Have you checked to make sure the baggie is still ok? I would think it would break down and fall apart from heat and vibration.

Do you have a dash shelf to put it on? It doesn't look bad on a dash shelf but I think it is too big and ugly to mount on the handle bars. This one is smaller:

Kinda jumpin' in here , Putt - hope you'll excuse me....
I have had a V1 for years now and wouldn't be without it. I drive 1,500 miles in an average week for work and it saves my butt all the time.
The best features are the directional arrows and also the bogey counter. I can't get used to my wife's Escort 8500 after using the V1.
Worth every penny.

I'll jump in on the cross-country butt-saving. My V-1 has saved me so many times, I've lost count. On my way to TexSTOC last year, it gave me so much advanced notice on the open west Texas roads, if it weren't for the fact that I was in the middle of nowhere, I would have sworn it was giving me false alarms. Couple of intermittent beeps every so often, then several miles down the road...DPS car coming the other way.
Love the clear plastic cover for it as well.

good point....after it had been there for approx. 6 months, I took a look and it was still OK. It was a good baggie, ziploc freezer quality :D

Does anyone use one of these plastic covers on a Solo s2?
How well does it fit

The photo's of that legal speeding box Cycle Gagets sells looks like a cheap plastic box someone got happy with a dremel tool on. Maybe it looks better irl, though.
I thought about getting an otterbox and mounting a V1 in that under the front fairing and using the audio adaptor for alerts.
1) weather protection
2) theft protection
3) conceal it somewhat so if I am pulled over, it's not screaming, "write me a ticket, please"
I don't really give a rip about laser detection...all that will tell me is my wife isn't going to be happy. And when she ain't happy, no one's happy.

Got mine straight from legalspeeding.com. Works good. I drilled a hole in the bottom close to where the audio plug is and plug a 90 degree adapter plug in it. I also made a none cross over 6 inch phone patch cord with a phone cord adapter for joining two phone cords. When I put the top on, all my connections are on the bottom of the case. I only use the detector on the motorcycle and never have to take it out of the cover. Kept it dry on the way home from Moonshine.

Also note that on the quoted page/link # LS-RC-B has recently been added to accomote the Beltronics family of radar detectors. I use the RX65 and like others here have said, it sure has saved me from wallet wounds.
Have a safe Labor Day Weekend

I have my XM antenna is the same location (if I understand correctly).
How do you make the detector level so it looks down the road correctly?
I don't use a RD now, so maybe I don't understand what is needed.

Does anyone find the RD gets too hot inside the enclose cases? I know my Escort gets hot with out being enclosed, and most electronics don't live long when it gets too hot.

You know, that's a great question! I'll check mine out next sunny riding day and post the results. My Escort has yet to suffer any ill effects.

I've got my V1 mounted in one of the fairing pockets. Yeah, it gets hot, but no hotter, I suspect, than it would sitting on the dash under a hot sun. In any case, it's been there for several years with no issues (ST1100--I guess the 1300 pockets get hotter).
I considered mounting mine under the fairing, as was suggested above. The problem with that is that the engine is going to block the rear antenna pretty completely, making the arrows sort of useless.
