Who do you think makes the best all around Jacket in this style?
Why?
Live in Northeast.
Have a Arlen Ness 3/4 jacket now. Looking to replace.
Checked out new Joe Rocket 3/4 made in China at Scotts power sports saturday. Nice waterproof zips, 13 pockets. Liner, and all the ce body stuff.
Price 299.00

I have a Black and Yellow Kilimanjero 3/4 leangth with liner, worn one season, I baught a new Discovery< I will let the Kilimanjero go for $100+Shipping.

i have a darien light on order in the tan color. have been pleased with the quality of the other stuff i have bought from them AND the wife said i could have it for hangin' out with her for ten years as of yesterday.

I'd really like to wear a 3/4 jacket more than I do. I have a Darien already. I find myself riding in waist length m/c jackets more frequently because of one problem (at least for me).

When you straddle to bike, your legs are part. This makes the 3/4 length tight on the hips. To relieve the constraint, you can unzip the 3/4 jacket some from the bottom. If you do this, air (and water) get and and you have two large flaps to contend with.

How do you 3/4 length jacket wearers accommodate this? Thanks - Bob

I have a Kilimanjaro 4 in black/yellow and am very pleased (other than in Jun/July/Aug). It's vented, but the ST just blocks all the air flow to the chest area where the input vents are located.

I'm pretty sure the armor changed between the 3 and the 4 so they may be apples and oranges when comparing.

The only issue I've had with the 3/4 during the winter is the tail. I normally start out sitting on it, but during the course of the ride it gets free and then I have cold air going up the back. Maybe I'm a dolt :o: on this and can't get dressed right. Seem's there should be a zipper for attaching the jacket to the pants that would solve this problem. Then the liner would need to stop at the zipper (waist level) or have an upper and lower section in the rear. The gap would allow the zipper to attach the jacket to the pants. This would stop the venting, not to mention the zipper would keep the jacket down if I end up sliding down the road. Is this a K4 thing?

I really don't want to use bib pants.

Thanks, Not looking for yellow.
ST is Blue and the Harley is Fire pearl RED OVER BLACK

Just saw your Viet Nam service and wanted to say welcom back brother. I was with the 2/22 inf. 25th Inf Div based out of Dau Tieng 66-68. Good to see another on here that knows the price that was paid. Proud of you brother!

Just wrote Firstgear for two sets of zippers that are used in the mesh jackets to attach the jacket to the pants.

I figure to lay it out zipper(part b)/liner/zipper(part a) and sew it. If I use the jacket its zipper(part a) on the jacket to zipper(part b) on the pants.
If I use the liner then it's zipper(part a) on the jacket to zipper(part b) on the liner and zipper(part a) on the liner to zipper(part b) on the pants.

I do like the wind skirt on the Rocket. Gonna have to figure out someting on that.

I have the First Gear Kilimanjaro 4.0 and I like it a lot...
but it is the only 3/4 I have had so don't know much about comparisons....nice that it does not let any wind in.

I just finished 114 miles this afternoon. I had 41F on the ST, but there were icicles on a few traffic lights on the return trip. Leftovers from previous night maybe? I wore my First Gear Kilimanjaro 4.0 (with liner), First Gear HT pants (without liner), and First Gear 40g Thinsulate gloves. The jacket was very warm, in the shady parts of the National Forest the pants liner would have been nice.

No I didn't layer. I had a cotton shirt and pants on underneath....

I got a AST last winter. 95 was bearable if moving<all vents open>. High 30's with std liner, low 20's with liner & Gerbings. No complaints.
