I'm looking forward to it. I thought maybe Dan was keeping you under wraps. I thought for sure that by now you'd be killing all the canyon squirrels as you zoomed the SoCal roads.
I'm guessing the house selling isn't going well...
The bad news: It's a horrible time to be selling a home
The good news: It's an excellent time to be buying a home in SoCal

I went by yesterday, should have stopped. Went to the "Miner's Diner" in Julian. I am currently ISO the "best Rueben in the World", decided to give the Diner's a try. Not so much. I'll stick to the Buffalo Burger, there:)
Current leader in "Best Rueben" category is a street booth in Odessa, WA on the third weekend in September. Quite a few left to try.
Everybody should have an area of expertise, right?

As far as I know, I have nothing going on next weekend. What do you have in mind?
I have to admit, that I had way too much fun at the race track during DesertSTOC. That kind of stuff can be addicting; I was scraping pegs half way around some of those turns! Typically I flinch and pull up when I start scraping, now I see it as a sign of getting the most fun for your buck out of that corner!
So let me know when and where, I'll try to do my part to get there. I have a suggestion though; how about we meet on the top of Mt. Helix. It would be an appropriate welcome home for Dennis...

Fred,
I'm still planning on making it and have asked Joe and Don if they want to come. BTW, this is great timing for a run out to Borrego to check out the bloom after lunch. I hear that this year's bloom is pretty good due to all the rain we've had.

I'm heading out there Sunday and plan on 4x4'ing back in to Coyote Canyon to check it out.

Dana,
I live too close to Santa Ysabel for this to really be a RIDE TO EAT! From Temecula it's only a 1:15 ride! I plan to hit the desert on the way back after lunch. I'll probably leave 1:00'ish and drop over Banner Grade and then head north to Borrego, then up S22. That will give me a chance to see the bloom in the southern area of the desert. You're welcome to join me. Maybe I'll post this idea in the CA section, as you recommended in case it gets any traction.
Looking for ward to seeing you!

Back home safe. Man was it ever good to see a bunch of you guys today! Especially enjoyed seeing a lot of AZ riders in our little gathering. Another thing special about today, a lot of guys talked their better halves into riding along. Was particular good to see that as it makes Vicki feel more at home if she's not the only gal along.
Make sure you let us know you got back home safe and sound.
Don't forget to update your yearly mileage! Lots of you guys will be climbing out of the basement on this ride!

Wow! What a great time and gathering! The biggest yet! About 20 plus bikes and folks! A bunch also brought their SO's! Nice to meet the better halfs. 4 or 5 of the bunch had ridden all the way from Arizona! Impressive! The ride to the desert to view the flowers was wonderful and Rick (Rickj) did a great job leading us there. About 12 bikes on that ride!
Here's some photos I took with my new Nikon digital camera (D80)...

Great ride, everyone. I haven't been very active with the ST community lately, so it was great to see you all and catch up. Great to see some of the spouses - I just wish Marilyn would have come. (She almost did.)

All in all a great day! (We may have to start talking about another RickandMarilynSTOC BBQ event...)

Speaking of BBQ's.... sure hope to see some of you at CreSTOC. (Working on that as we speak...)

I missed the ride today but I saw a few STeeds from my "cage". My wife & I went to Palm Canyon out in Borrego to shoot some photos of the flowers and to get a 5 mile hike in. We also saw two bighorn sheep and managed to get a few photos...
Just got back to Phoenix.
Long day...great to see some familiar So Cal folks and meet some new ones.
Nasty wind conditions today. At one point, wind was coming from my left hard on I-8...just as I was managing...switched in an instant and started from right side. Made for a tough time getting there.
Made great time coming home and then hit a traffic jam on I-10, 10 miles from home base URGH !!! Added an extra 40 mintues.

I am glad all you had a good time. I was going to be there, but the wind was blowing so bad at the 10 and 15 that it nearly blew me off the bike. Dan,Jefro good to see you two.
Fred,

When my wife Anne found out the other ladies came along today, she said she should have come too. She loves riding, but didn't want to be the only gal. Next time.
It was fun to see the gang and check out all the goodies bolted onto our scooters. I even noticed a few of the Harley Faithful walking over to check out Freds lady, Veronica.

Got back phoenix 7:30 via 86 north past Salton sea to Mecca, then on 66th street (not sure the road is named) east through ( Boxer canyon'?) to I-10 smoothe sailing until the nasty construction on I-10. Great meeting everyone and most importantly the Pastrami sandwhich was awesome!

Made it home no sweat. Well, sort of. Bike fell over at the visitor's center on the south end of Joshua Tree Park. Parking lot "falls" the wrong way, bike was standing nearly vertical on the side stand. No harm, no foul.
From Borego Springs, I road around the south end of Salton Sea, then north on 111 to Meca, east on Box Canyon, north thru Joshua Tree to 29 Palms, then Aboy Road and old 66 to I-40, back streets thru Needles and then thru Oatman. 950 miles, only ~30 miles of interstate.
Good to see all youse guys. I'll post my flower pics tomorrow.
Thanks to Fred for putting this together. Good to see everyone again. Little windy (VERY windy in spots) and mucho traffic of the tourista variety. A pretty Sunday brings them all out.
I cut off at Borrego Springs, went back up Montezuma & did some twisties around Valley Center & Fallbrook before Oceanside & home. It is really beautiful in those canyons since the rain and traffic was very light - guess they were all down in the desert.....
So, danyn_canyon, remember any names today? I usually have to meet someone about four times before I can remember their name.
Total miles for today - 340. Slightly less than one way for Bryan.

Nice seeing all of you today!!
The KLR did fine.....I did, however, find the reserve.... :)
Other than that, a nice day with a good set of people!!
Speaking of BBQ's.... sure hope to see some of you at CreSTOC. (Working on that as we speak...)
Cheers!
<D>
Dan,
We'll definitely make CreSTOC this year and I'm going to try hard to talk Marilyn in to coming. My brother has a cabin nearby at Lake Arrowhead, so we'll likely stay there.

Oh, I fear quizzes!
Larry (Blackbird/VFR), Jethro, Dana, John (Club Sandwich), Dean, Bob, Bryan, George, Fred-O (hold the cheese and onion), Vicki
(who did I miss:( ) and everyone has to organize around the table in my mind and it is wrong to just remember the sandwiches! 704 miles RT (for the Pastrami, melted cheese and carmelized onion gut that would be me), however George must take the record -->950 miles. Damn his sandwich must have been good!

Awesome!

PS: I am using the route from last year, but I need some help determining the modification you helped me make for old town and the back roads to the lookout.....it was such a great ride that I don't think we can go wrong again.
PPS: Rather than continue to Hijack Fred's thread (cause I know he loves this!! :D) I'll post up a new one over at the CreSTOC forum for "Routes".

Hey, GREAT!! You got 'em all. :) I have to admit I couldn't have done that. I got everyone at our table, but there were a couple at the other table I didn't know.
George got the longest ride award this time, but at the last one Motomac came out from Ohio..... I think George plans to even the score at Moonshine. That guy RIDES!!!! :bow1:

Those guys who came from Phoenix prolly should get the distance award. I had extra miles on Sunday morning just goofing around before heading to lunch.
Quick check on maps.google.com says their one-way was 318 and mine was 305, though ReSTored was showing 500 miles when I pulled into the restaurant.
Either way, it was good to see youse guys. Great ride, beautiful flowers. Best part was only 30 miles of interstate. :D
Don't have my pics back yet, maybe tomorrow.

It was great to see all youse guys n gals again. Ann also had a wonderful trip. Ended the day with little over 320 miles. ST's back as far as the eye could see, could have been a great action shot, if I could have got my fat head out of the way...

I calculated 734 miles for the day (took a different route through Glamis to get back to Phx.)
Aside from the early wind....it was a pretty good ride.
