of him as such. He has hosted several TechSTOCs at his
place of business, provided food and drinks and even sold
some items but I would have to say profit was not the
motivation as much as friendship was. Enough said.
Please congratulate Tom for being
January 2008
Member Of The Month.
From Tom himself:
I began my love affair with motorcycles at the age of 15 ½. In Calif you
could get your permit at that age and that gave me my freedom! I wanted a
new 66 CL160 but couldn’t afford it so ended up with a CT90 that I put about
30k on it, to school and to work.
Spent a little time in the USMC, stationed in Yuma, AZ. Finally ended up with
my CL160, several of them to rebuild! That is where I got into the mechanics
of the motorcycles. That began a long progression of motorcycle ownership.
CB350-4, KZ650,KZ1000,V45S VF500,V65S, KG1000, and then the ST1300
(best of all).
In 1978 a friend asked me if I wanted to run a new company that he was
putting together.
I knew nothing about turbochargers, but was egger to learn. I have been with
the company as the general manager ever since. It went thru 3 different
owners until 2003 when I was provided the opportunity to purchase the
business. I now own my dream/nightmare.
I have always been able to identify markets and industry trends. I have
developed many products and markets for the company over the years.
Tuning has always been one of my favorite areas to explore.
I have modified almost every car / truck that I have owned, but I typically
leave my bikes alone. The ST did not “drive” as good as I thought that it
should and with my EFI modification ability, the FPR was developed. I am glad
that I could help so many riders with their ST’s.
I was first married at 18 and have a son, Chris, who has followed with his
desire to modify his vehicles. He rides a DR 650 now and we play with his 64
Nova 383, (it’s nice that he can pay for some of the toys now).
Divorced in 1995, remarried in 1996 to the best person in the world- Rhonda
understands my compulsions and loves to ride. She now has her own DR 650
to do adventure touring on.
We just got back from a dual sport trip to Alaska, were she drove herself for
900 miles.

We have toured the western states on the ST and are looking forward to
more adventures.
The ST Owners group is the best group that I have ever been involved with.
All are very knowledgeable and are willing to help.
Thank You for this Honor
