The suckiest part of sleeping in a tent - waking up at 4:00 AM, got the urge to go real bad, but who wants to climb out of a warm sleeping bag and hike to the trees? In a crowded campground, you might even have to put on pants! And if it's raining, well, it just makes the whole thing hardly worth it.

My life in a tent has been all sunshine and smiles since I got this:

Come on, I'm not kidding. Think about it.

It's called the Little John, it's available for under $10 (Google it - lots of 'em out there) and it holds lots of pee.

 An accessory I grasped first -- and grabbed -- from a local hospital some years ago!

Apparently I saved myself $10. :)

The Little John (and the "Lady J" adapter) have been popular with pilots for years... When you can't afford a big plane with a toilet, these things certainly can come in handy! And, I saw on the Tonight Show the exact same item (including the adapter for the ladies, which is usually $3 or $4 extra) from a 99 cent store!! That would be a bargain!

Yeah, I stole that picture from a website called The Pilot Store. Bought mine from Campmor. Don't need the adapter, I ride one up.

I use a empty laundry detergent bottle, pull out the pour spout and disguard it, come in various fluid sizes, wont leak if accidently tipped over in the tent, as long as the cover is on tight. :tent3: :biker:

I have for many years used a Nalgene water bottle for this purpose... I have it taped with duct tape and labeled (this is the best part of this short story) "2PN" :D This keeps me from mistaking it for a water bottle, an experience I would just not care to have...

I've used the laundry detergent variety for years. Unlike the "dedicated" model it's basically free and you don't care much if you lose it since it's easily replaced.

One of my Beemer buddies has such a tent helper that's bright yellow. Well, he HAD one. He soaked the label off and for fun put on a nuclear haz-mat sticker (he's an enviromental guy for the power company). On a trip to the Maritimes, the Canadian border guards saw it attached to his camp bag and confiscated the bottle since it clearly indicated hazardous materials. That will probably be good for campfire stories for the next 50 years.

Maybe this would suit your needs better. ;)

I'm just not quite sure where to strap it down on an ST.

A collapsable container is much easier to pack. I wouldn't give up that much space for a non-collapsable jug. I've seen numerous collapsable type water containers that would serve well as long as you don't get easily confused about what to drink out of. :22yikes:

I considered one of these. Two problems: (1) they were all bigger than I needed, and (2) when I thought about how you get one of these "uncollapsed" there were no acceptable solutions.

I'm terrible at algebra but I bet there is a mathematical formula where the colder it is and the further you have to walk to the camp can the more often you will have to go.

You're right, and the distance is squared when it's raining.

I have two doors on my tent. I confess that before I got smart and kept a bottle, I did let er rip out the back door a couple of times.

i've 'let er rip' many a time from the door of the tent. used a beer bottle once, then chucked it outside to deal with in the morning. that was tricky to aim i tell you!

I ask myself why I continued to read this thread, I saw right away where it was going.

Yeah, I had to give up on the laundry detergent style, they just don't make cardboard like they use to.........:radleak:
