I got the Sevylor mattress and have been looking at the thread discussing air pumps. I got the Intex high volume low pressure pump that Joe got at WalMart. He is correct that it takes a while to inflate the mattress. The outlet at the pump is 1 1/4" and the mattress inlet is 1/4". This pretty well strangles the pump.
I looked at it for awhile trying to figure a better way to do it. Three trips to the hardware store later I had the solution. I decided to use both air inlets and give the pump some extra volume. I used two 1/2" pipe to 1/4" barb fittings connected to two 1/2" pipe X 3/4" barb elbows. Two short lengths of 3/4" ID tubing tied these to a 3/4" barb X 3/4" pipe tee fitting. Another short length of tubing connected that to the 3/4" adapter on the pump. All fittings & hose are plastic for light weight.
This allowed the pump to be much more effective. The mattress inflated in about two minutes. It also worked very well to deflate the mattress for packing. Total cost for parts was $10. I will also change the cig lighter 12v to an SAE plug to work on the bike.
As soon as I can figure out how to take & post a picture, I will do that. I know -- THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICTURES.....
