So I finally bit the bullet and bought a GPS. A cheap, dumb GPS. Garmin Nuvi 250W. The W is for widescreen, which is nice, and the 50 is for the $50 extra it costs to get the map of Canada included, eh!

So I went to the site and used Garmin WebUpdater to update the firmware to v2.9.0 with no problems.

Downloaded the Honda Dealer location POIs and stuck them in a folder.

Then I downloaded POI Loader and installed it and all I get when I start it is pictured below. No menus, no choices, no joy. What's up with that? Does not seem to matter if GPS is plugged into PC or not.

Unistalled and ran the install again - same stuff...

I suppose just dropping the GPX files into the Garmin\GPX subdirectory next to the current.gpx file would be a bad idea?

Steve, my copy went from there to another page asking which files to load. You must be locking up for some reason. Try downloading another copy, verify you get the version for which ever OS you are using...Good luck..

Well this is too strange. I uninstalled, rebooted, redownloaded, rebooted, renistalled, rebooted, and still the same results.

Since I am a barely reformed Apple/Mac guy, I keep my Start Menu for Windoze XP on the top of the screen, where it belongs. I moved it to the bottom and POI Installer now works. Move it back to the top, and POI installer STALLS.

At least I have a workaround...
