What is the best motorcycle camping guide? (or regular camping guide).
I'm mainly interested in Western US.

Might not be exactly what you are really looking for. But go ask questions and you will get answers. Great site!

Are you looking for camping advice as far as gear, etc or actual campgrounds? There are many.

I was looking for campgrounds - not necessarly free campgrounds either. We don't have our route planned exactly so I would like some kind of guide to carry so we will know where to look in the area we happen to be.

"Woodall's Guide," but you may need a trailer to carry the book! That is one thick mutha!

Well, what I would do is carry a normal road atlas. Wherever you see green means a state or national park and you'll almost always find a spot depending on the time of year. You never need reservations unless it's on a holiday weekend.
Also, KOA offers a free guide to all their campgrounds. They aren't typically in scenic spots like state/nat'l campgrounds but they are always convenient.

I have most of the KAO campgrounds saved in the GPS, and every time I pass one that I don't have, I add it. Now, if I just started camping, I could really use that. I mainly use it for emergencies and the hopes that the KOA might have bunk house camping in an emergency. Most require the use of a tent, but more and more are adding the little cabins like we saw while at NatSToc in Eureka Springs. :D
