Anybody interested in doing a tech day? I am looking at March 15, 2008. That is the only day I will have free till the end of April. My parents are remodeling their house and I have to help them since they helped me with mine. They will be out of town that weekend so I can do this event. I am willing to offer my place as a location. I have tools and an air compressor. I do not have a lift though. We can probably get two bikes in the garage to work on at a time. I have nothing to do on my bike but we did one last year and I enjoyed just hanging out with everyone. I will have my HF tire changer together and ready for the tech event if anyone wants new shoes put on. Lets hear if there is interest in this or not.
If someone thinks they have a better set up for this we can do it there. I am offering my place though and think it will work, just no lift is all.

Unbelievable!:hat1:
Sounds like a good ideal to me! I'll put this on the calander! Funny part is...I'll have to do some tech stuff 1st just to get there...:doh1: . I'd be happy to help anyone else out though! I've got an ST1100 manual too, for those that might need a gander at it!
Thanks Landon!!!:clap2:

I have a manual for the 1300 also. I do not have a vacuum for brake fliud changes, so if someone wants to do that..we will need to locate one.

STindy05, I grew up in Lebanon -- in fact, my father and brothers still farm there.
I went to Lebanon to high school, and the Sheridan Black Hawks would routinely clean our clocks on the football field. Are they still big, ugly, tough, and mean as they were then?

Gordon...Sheridan is still mean when it comes to Football. They have won the state championship the last three years straight. I know the last two years they have not lost a game.
How many acres does your family farm? Thats what my parents did, they retired this year. If your family needs some help on evenings or weekends, let me know. I am experienced.

They farm about seven thousand acres. I believe that they have all the help that they need, though.

Landon, I'll keep an eye on this thread... I'd show up... and with a manual to give to someone who needs one. I may even be able to ride by then, as long as you'll let a ex ST owner (VFR now) hang with you guys.

Thats big time! My parents farmed about 2,000 acres. Glad they have the help, not sure I really want to give up my time to ride.

Mike....you know you are always welcome at my house! I don't care what you ride. I believe that you are the only person that has ever rode 900 miles with me in a single day.

Cannot hardly believe this is all the interest.
I would definitely be interested but weather will be the deciding factor. I have never seen a S.E. Michigan Tech event yet, but that would be all too convenient.

STindy05!! I Just sold my pick-up cap (hate those things and don't even know why I bought it!:doh1: ) and now have enough money to do a fast tech-SToc @ home so that I can ride to your tech_SToc weather permitting! The weather will definitely play a roll in if I ride or drive but I'm planning on coming regardless. The only thing that might hinder this event for me will be if my in-laws move into their new house during that time. If I find that they are doing the move during the Tech-SToc, I can UPS my manual and vac-bleeder down to your house so that people can use them??? Just let me know!!

Hey Landon,
Thanks for the offer to host this. I'm definitely interested. I have a service manual and just picked up a Mityvac. I haven't changed the brake or clutch fluid on the ST yet and would appreciate someone walking me through it.
Hopefully all the freezing rain/ice/sleet/snow will be over by the 15th. I haven't been on the bike for a few weeks now and I'm getting cabin fever! :hyp1:
This will also be a great opportunity to try out the Gerbing gear I picked up at the Chicago IMS! :PoPoST1:

Bring the Mityvac with you. I have never done the brake and clutch fluid change myself. I also have a service manual, so we should be able to figure it out. Who knows, maybe someone with some experience may be here also.

I will try to have my bike out in the drive. I also drive a white Ford F-150 that will be in the driveway. Keep my number handy incase you cannot find the house. It is a brick ranch house.

8-9 AM should work well.
They wife just bought a brand new coffee maker if anyone drinks coffee. We do not drink it so you might have to make your own, cause I have no clue what to do.

It's tomorrow already!! Well here it is!
The Central Indiana Tech Event was a great success. Landon had more people show up than Moonshine!:o4: NOT!:clap2: Ok there were just 7 of us! There would have been 8 but Landon made his wife got to work...
For give me but I've already forgotten some names and handles so just chime in and correct me as needed. Lets, see...three of the 4 ST's that showed up!
28669
Then inside is the one going under the knife. In the 1st pic we have
from left to right, Landon (STindy05), the fellow who's name I forgot (sorry!:doh1: ), Bob and Dave.
28670
(Bob explaining that "This is silver right here!) 28671Installing an Eager Beaver fuse block, Sargent heated seat harness asm, and a Stebel horn:toot1: and Eager Beaver harness for it as well!
Next we have
28672 Eric (Earache) and Landon!
Then Bob's bike all pulled apart,
2867328675 and Mike (IndyST) at the far right, 2nd pic, showed up to contribute a few leftovers from his ST, A manual and a shock spacer...thanks Mike, very generous!
Then the reasembley of Bob's bike:
286762867728674 and only one useless trip to the hardware store...:shrug2: :crackup :crackup
Dog's and burgers for lunch with Uncle Rays BBQ chips on the side. Sodas or coffee to drink and of coarse the usual serving of ribbing and good natured insult swapping!!!:crackup :crackup :crackup These guys have a great sense of humor! (After all they put up with me!!) It only drizzled so the wet stuff wasn't too bad. Eric and I drove:oops: . It was only 29º in Buchanan when I left and I don't have any heated gear so...as for Eric, he'll have to speak for himself.:a13:
I stayed until Bob's bike was done and he'd left...we'll everone else had gone by then except Dave, myself and of coarse Landon. Landon pulled his bike in and was debating installing a harness for a heated vest(?) when I decided to head north.
Landon, did you two get that harness installed? Wish I could have stayed but I was glad I left when I did. It was 8:00PM by the time I got home. I did go the back way and did some site seeing so....
Thanks again, Landon, for hosting and to all who showed up and made the event a great sucess!!!:clap2:
EDIT: If anyone wants any photos, just PM me with an E-mail address and I'll shoot the full resolution pics to you!!

Tom...We ended up wiring the harness for the liner once you left. Glad I did as I really needed it yesterday! The guy in the colts shirt is Dave (not Mark);) and don't forget Mike that came for awhile till his "boss" called and told him to get his a$$ home. Glad everyone had a good time and made it home safe.
From looking at the pictures it looks like I need to join ACL on his diet.
