Greets!
I have the quartet harness with a 12v outlet hooked up to it. I recently purchased a small tire pump air compressor, thinking would be nice to have on long trips. Noticed my PSI was down about 2, so figured be great time to try it out. Plugged it into my 12v outlet, attached to valve stem, turned on pump....BLIP...then nothing. Not good
I had visions of having to take off all the plastic on the left side, not a happy camper. To make matters worse, I violated one of my basic rules: "Never try something new just before a ride", and was supposed to meet my riding club in 30 minutes for a 6+ hour ride! And guess what else? I was supposed to lead it, LOL.
I quickly check out the bike, able to start fine, all the lights/signals/dashboard are fine. Whew. Just none of my accessories will work. So no XM radio, no CB radio. Usually run the GPS through it too, but I had batteries for it. Good thing too, since my 6+ hour multiple roads and turn ride was loaded onto the GPS!
No time to try and figure out what happened. So I just head out for the day. This was last week.
Finally get time to work on it today after a whole week of commuting (375 miles commute/week) with no tunes :( Ended up just having to take the left inner cowling off. Was able to reach/feel around for the inline fuse, uncap it (not easy in cramped quarters) and take out the fuse and hope that was the problem. Blew out the measly 2-Amp fuse in the quartet harness. Keeping in mind that there are fuses aft and forward of that fuse, I'll leave it to your imagination what fuse I replaced it with...
Now I'm a tad reluctant to try my air pump again.
