OK, here's what I got back:

Hi Patrick, (lovely Irish name!!)

Many thanks for your enquiry.

Rest assured - I'll do my best for you.

Price per set, based upon minimum order of 20 sets =
£11.50 less 17.5% = £9.49 per set.
20 x £9.49 = £189.80

In respect of shipping....
given the small and light packs that these are in, the shipping costs will be minimal.
So....
I will share the actual cost of shipping with you on a 50/50 basis.

Please be aware, these are selling really well - particularly as the Honda VFR 400/750/800 guys are also on to them!

And..... most importantly...... you and your fellow members are gonna love ‘em. They look great on the bike!!

If I can be of further help – please let me know.

Kind regards,
Keith Munro.

Let's see how many more wants a set and I'll tally it up. Let this run a week?

I'll order the entire bunch and then split the shipping cost (from UK) by the # of sets and add that to the set cost. Then ship to each of you, set cost + actual shipping to your door.

Sound OK? Hope so! We can use paypal for fees.

Look, mister, I didn't buy the ST to go galavanting about the countryside, racking up miles, finding twisty roads, and seeking great little places to eat in the middle of nowhere.

No sir, my ST sits in the garage where it belongs.

Ray,
thats why I was thinking of placing them on the side cover, like the older Honda 750's. You'd only see it when it's parked.

st11ray
02-19-2008, 04:50 PM
Well, I placed them about 1/2" below the ST1300 side decal and centered between the "3" and "0" in 1300. Like the directions say, make sure you have it marked right because they don't move once they touch the plastic!

LOL.. hey, you tried... the 2nd one isn't too bad but yes, in daylight and a bigger pic would be great.

Hey Joe,
How do you make the pics bigger? I took the shot, downloaded to computer, and then did the "manage attachments". I also use a Mac. And it is raining today, so I'll try again tomorrow!
Thanks.

It looks like that's how big the pic is on your PC... the site didn't resize it.

Check your orig pic, if you have a bigger one you should be able to attach it.

**LATEST ON THE GROUP BUY**

I got this message from Keith at Bike-quip today:

Hi Patrick,

Oh dear – this is the first time this has happened to me in almost 5 years and I wonder....
Why with your order??

I confirm all of the following to you....
Ref. PARCEL No. XXXXXXXXXXXXX

1. It left me on 9 Feb.
2. It left the UK, bound for JFK Airport on 10 Feb. (the Royal Mail site confirms this).
3. The Royal Mail site reads.... as you state below.
4. The US Postal Services site states.... ‘There is no record of this item’.
5. I have emailed USPS via their web site but I have no idea what response I will receive (i.e. I’ve never had to do this before).

Today (25.02.08), I have contacted the Royal Mail International Services dept and they have told/advised me....
- “there are industrial problems within JFK Airport and we have 000’s of packages held up because of these problems”.
- “keep looking at the usps site for any changes in what they are recording against your Parcel Ref. No”.
- “unfortunately, because of the International Postal Agreements that are in place,
we can not investigate this any further until 27 March” (given the initial posting date of 9 Feb.).

I’ve searched to see if I can see that there are problems with handling international mail in JFK, but I’ve found nothing.
This does not necessarily mean that there are no problems.

In the meantime, unfortunately.... we have to wait until it is received by you, OR, until 27 March, when I can start to process a claim.
Also, whilst I considered sending you a 2nd package.... this is not possible as these have sold so well, I don’t have enough to send you (and my next batch will not be with me until early April).
Please believe me when I say I feel really bad about this but I have certainly played my part correctly and it seems Royal Mail have also completed their task correctly.
None of the foregoing really helps you or I but I have to ‘tell you as it is’ (i.e. I like to be 100% up front with all of my customers’).
I really am sorry about this delay, I ask that you understand my dilemma and..... please pass on my most sincere apologies to our ST1300 colleagues.

I’ve no doubt – we will keep in touch as required.

Kind regards,
Keith.

Sorry for the delay guys!:banghead:

I've been emailing back and forth with BikeQuip. Keith is doing everything he can, short of a plane ride to JFK, to locate the package. Worst case is that we wait till he gets another batch (mid April, I believe) before we can take delivery.

I keep waiting for them to "magically" appear at my door....

This is frustrating to be at the mercy of the shippers, but there really isn't much else to do at this point.

Fortunately, these items are just a "pretty-up" thing and not necessary for the operation of our bikes. I'd be really cranked if we NEEDED these to ride.

But I'll take it in this case!!

Oh, I guess it's OK!

This has been an enlightening experience! Even with the delays and such, everyone has been GREAT! I MIGHT even consider doing it again!

Joe, quick question: Is there a way to automate (like a mail merge) sending PMs. A java script, maybe?? Sumpin?? That's been the biggest PITA of the whole thing!

Nope... the only way to handle that would be get everyone's email address and used your mail client for that kinda stuff.

Sorry.

Maybe there should be a sticky with tips and tricks for doing a group buy!!

STICKY
Sure-fire three step-process for handling a group buy:
1. Have Pat O handle it.
2. Wait for group buy item to arrive.
3. Convey to Pat that "a lot of people, particularly me, would like to buy you a drink and shake your hand."
;)

I received mine today. I notice the black shading on the "4" as well. It will not be noticeable when they are on the bike. I am holding them up against the bike to see where I want to put them. The best spots seem to be the front and back, where I removed the "HONDA" chrome plastic badging.

I don't. Go back to their website and look the the picture of the one posted. It also has a black mark on the 4. It does not look like that big of deal to me, and its our fault for purchasing without looking at it in greater detail. They seem to be "as advertised" to me.

I was curious about the black mark on the 4 also so I asked about it at the Bike-Quip website.

---------------------
16/4/08 20:55:

The Honda V-4 badges are a cool idea. Why is there a diagonal black slash across the 4?

Ron

--------------------
04/19/08 at 09:35:

Hi Ron,

Many thanks for your enquiry.

How ironic that you send me an email on the very day that...........
I have exhausted all stocks of my initial batch of V4 badges, which have been replaced with by my Mk.2 version.

Mk.2 version?
I have reviewed and revised the design and, suffice to say.......
- there is no longer any shading on the 4.
- there is less shading on the V.

Whilst the first batch were exactly as I designed and therefore, as I intended..... I’ve had to eat humble pie because I have to admit, my Mk.2 version is much improved. That said, for those few people that have asked about the shading on the 4....
- they all found it looked a bit odd when taking it out of the packet
BUT...
- looked perfectly OK when placed on the bike.

Odd, maybe - but true!

Go ahead – order a set – you’ll be delighted !! GUARANTEED !!!

Kind regards,
Keith.
