I recently found this route in one of my motorcycle magazines, and it looks like a really great ride for those that might find themselves out that way. I am attaching the GPS file. I'm not sure it'll work, but I'm going to give it a try anyway.

BT, and yes it's a nice ride.
And yes, your mapsource file worked fine. Thanks!

Thanks Fred...That graphic really helps give an overview of the route without having to load the file first.
Don...I've got a question, and yes I'm hijacking my own thread a bit. I watched the evening news a week or so back where they did a segment on how to pronounce Nevada. So, I ask...do you call it:
Ne vAH Duh
or
Ne VAA da
Enquiring minds really do want to know. :D

There is no awww in Nevada. If you pronounce it eastern style with the aww or AH or say Nev-odd-a around a bunch of Nevadans, you'll get corrected.
Once in awhile, some auto dealership or something will have a commercial made in NYC or someplace and the announcer will get it wrong. Makes people talk back to their TV's, and hundreds of people will call the car dealership and give them a bunch of heat until they take the commercial off the air and/or correct it. :D :D
Oh, and I understand it's not Color-odd-o either. :D

Or O RE Gone, or, God save us, Warshington.
Pretty nice roads, too much Slab to really satisfy, but got most of the best, there.

Truly showcases some of Utah's finest roads...
Been to this area twice.
Summer 2006 and again in October 2007.
It gets really hot in the summer (~100F) and October is a little too cold (~30F).
I would recommend last half of September, after school starts and before it gets too cold.
There's a great KOA in Bryce Canyon and a not so great one in Moab.

Does my GPS file cover the roads that you have pictured? If not, do you have a GPS file to add?

It is on the File... Look at RT 276 North of Mexican Hat and you will see a really squiggly line??? That be it... ;)
When you are 1 mile out,,, you will see a sign...

You will stop and try to figure out,,, where,,, in the frigg'n world the road goes!!! It looks like it is the classic Road Runner,,, "Drive right into a Mountain skit...
You ride this area,,, and you will be 103% sure the guy who wrote the "Road Runner" Cartoon lived in this area...
Here is a great picture,,, to give you an idea why,,, this is,,, my FAV road,,, E V A R!!! I have rode through there about 7 times,,, and I will 70 more if I get my wish...

That linked picture reminds me a little bit of Mt. Lemmon in AZ:

Sisters both live in Tucson,,, and I have been going out there since 1970... Probably been on top of MT Lemmon,,, 911 times... ;)
I would drive up and eat lunch at the lodge at the top near the Ski Lift... Bestest Chili I ever had,,, in Arizona at least... And the drive was worth it even if the Chili wasn't... :D
I rode a bicycle DOWN,,, MT Lemmon 1 time... Sisters STILL,,, don't know I did... Can you say,,, 69mph??? :hyp1:
The Utah road and the MT Lemmon rode??? Make the MT Lemmon Road gravel,,, and far shorter and you get the idea...

LOL...I'm not sure if I like that gravel comment, but I wasn't very fond of the tire snakes on Mt. Lemmon either. I'll never forget that hard right hand curve and the look that must've been on my face as I was able to catch the bike by putting my foot down and kicking her back upright a bit. It's a wonder I didn't break my ankle, and Mac can attest to my shock at the first available pull off after the mishap. I still get goose bumps thinking about that one.

A little late to this thread, but missing from the map in the first post are 2 great rides in Southern Utah. I spent almost a week in Torrey, Utah for the national Norton Rally, so I got to explore the area a bit with some daily rides. For red rock scenery, the Burr Trail out of Boulder, Utah is breathtaking. There's almost no traffic on this road that eventually turns into dirt about 30 miles in. But what scenery! If you're ever in this area, these are two MUST DO rides.

Another day ride was up to Fish Lake, which is off of hwy 72. The turn is near Mormon Fork. This is higher in elevation, about 8,000ft or so, with Aspens, lakes and lots of sagebrush.

Southern and South Eastern Utah is some of the most awesome scenery you can find. In amongst these '04 3 Flags photos you'll find a bunch of them.
http://travel.webshots.com/album/185724040OgLhxt
Came through there this past September as well, but I don't have the photos loaded yet. The wife couldn't close her mouth (jaw-drop syndrome:)). I've stayed 3 times now in Torrey, UT. A very nice, motorcycle friendly inn called Austin's Chuckwagon Inn. Gravel parking lot, but great rates and real clean. On site is a cabin that Zane Grey used in writing one of his novels. The area exudes charm and history. Whatever you do, *DO* make a stop at Bryce Canyon (we stayed at Ruby's Inn) and stop at the lookout points, especially around sundown or sun up.
Also, the road to Gateway, CO is awesome. The pavement is pristine, and nice-n-curvy. Also the road to Blanding from Torrey is a nice ride too. Oh, and since you're going to be so close (Mexican Hat), DO try to stop at Monument Valley (on the way to Kayenta)!
You're in for a real treat!
Taken from my Concours on Highway 12 in Utah.
Southern Utah: Probably some of the most scenic riding I've ever been on.
One change I would make in that route:
Instead of taking 191 North out of Moab to I-70, take UT 128 up to
I-70.. You will not be disappointed...

All that and MORE! Try Capital Reef east of Torrey.

And if you're in the vicinity of Mexican Hat, take the short side-trip over to Goosenecks State Park. Places like this are driving me to buy a new wide-angle lens...

Shoot about three overlapping shots, then photostitch them together for a panoramic shot... works great..
