View Full Version : Group buy on Akona waterproof bags....

I want to offer the ST-Owners members a group buy on bags and lights. I have an account with Akona Gear for my SCUBA business and several of their waterproof bags are top rate. Lets start with two specific bags...listed below.

I also have an account set up with Princeton for top rate lights. I'll post the light info in a separate post later in the week.

So...

I'll take orders for the next two weeks. This so everyone has a shot at seeing it. Collect money, order bags and ship.
(doesn't take long to receive order)
I'll accept check or credit card for payment.
I don't have PayPal...but I can take credit cards via phone.
PM or email me for orders and to leave your contact info. I'll return calls as soon as I receive your contact information.

The whole deal should only take about a month total orders to receipt of bags. I need a good head count and money so that I don't get hurt. I'm going to offer up the bags at my cost plus whatever it costs to box and ship via whichever mode of shipping people want to pay for.

Best and thanks,

Forest Aten
Dallas SCUBA

PS....if people are interested in the padded shoulder strap for the duffle, the cost for that item is $4.75.

Mac,

Sorry about the bag...but....if you need Princeton Tech lighting....hold off. I'll post something for LCD key ring lights, strapped head lights for camping/hiking and other lights....later in the week. Princeton makes some of the best lights available.

Would it be too much to ask to have the list posted so we can verify that each of our orders is correct on your list? If so, no big deal.

Thanks for posting this! I was getting ready to order a dry duffle so the timing was perfect!!!!

I sent everyone that ordered a bag a PM with some updated info. I hope I touched all the bases. If not...let me know. The bags are on the way to my location. I'll have them in hand in the next day or two and box and ship ASAP. I'll know about postage costs later this afternoon and will post up with PM's.

I've ordered a few extra bags so if anyone still wants one of these bags let me know.

Thanks

FOREST...thanks for offering this...if you have left-overs...i would appreciate 1duffel & 1 compression...will work out details via postal m.o. to you later when you get the "early" responders taken care of...:bow1: :) :03biker: :) what color are they?...any in a "conspicuous" color?...just asking as the color is no issue in my asking to get 1 duffel & 1 compression...

Group effort....

I'd like to thank everyone that participated in this group buy. While I didn't make any money in this effort, by placing an order you've all helped me maintain my account with PSI/Akona. The SCUBA business is very slow in the US and orders have been lean.

All of the bags have been shipped, with the exception of local members (I'll deliver these bags in person), and you should receive them soon. I'll do another group buy on bags again soon.

A recommendation about packing these duffels or any other duffels for that matter. They are very tough but lightweight....BUT...don't pack hard/sharp objects against the reinforced outside of the bag. Vibration will slowly cause the "hard object" to wear a hole in the side of the bag at the contact point. I placed a camera tripod in my bag and after a 1000 mile run....noted that it had worn a small hole in the bag at the contact point. Dumb.....

If anyone else wants to take advantage of this particular order, I have three duffles remaining and 5 dry compression bags. Just post a PM.

FYI

After I shipped these bags, I found cost for postage ran between $5-7 dollar in the US and $10-11 to Canada...via USPS, sending parcel post.

Thanks again.

Thanks for your effort Forest, it's people that sacrifice their time/effort like this that help make this such a great place.
