I picked up my 04 STABS after work today, and I must say even with just 100 miles I am impressed. Much nicer than my old r1150r. I am sure after this weekend and a trip to SC/NC that I will be very happy. Your site is great all of my questions were answered from threads even before I registered, very informative.

Check your throttle play before you leave. Honda normally sets too much play into the throttle leaving you with sudden on/off throttle snatch. Once set correctly your acceleration will be much smoother for your long trip. It's a great bike that gets better with age. Enjoy your trip and ride safe.

Remember the SILVER bikes are fastest. They got here first.

Remember the SILVER bikes are fastest. They got here first.

Then they corrected some mistakes... came out with Blue... tweaked a few things, made it faster... came out with RED... The Fastest, most beautiful color ST there is :bow1: to Honda for the Red ST... Ride the RED Wing...

Ride. Red. Best. :D

Very interesting, I also moved from a BMW R1150RA to the ST1300. If you're like me you'll love the ST but really miss your BMW dealer, WAYYYYYYY better than any Honda dealer I've found.

Welcome to the special fraternity of older men behaving badly..All this talk of one colour being faster..that's just silly. What you yanks have to face up to is how much your polution controls have done to stiffle this rocket ship. We Canadians on the other hand..well I'll tell ya..No catalytic convertors 8 hp. and 12 less lbs.. different fuel ration chip another 6 horse power...again because of no catalytic...Less restrictive mufflers ..due to different sound regulations..thank California for that one...about another 4 hp. All that and we use regular gas...We also get 50,000 miles or 3 years full warranty..and four choices in colours...are you stepping in it yet :D ..Kidding, enjoy and stay well...

God Bless
Dave.......... :)

Careful Dave... NFL is an obvious exception to the the older "MEN" part of the quote...

Although... Dorian was the one who had a *discussion* with a LEO already... so you might be right... :)

You yanks got me on the weather..minus 7 celesius today with snow...unusual this time of year..but ugly..went to a bike show..had to go in a friends van..coming home..this evening met two brave souls on bikes..one was a silver ST...We do have a short season...it sure makes our riding time precious...but we get long winters to farkle...Good part is in Ontario and B.C. some of the worlds best riding roads..once the snow melts..Anyway our ST's are still faster so there...this is supposed to be about the newbie..Welcome again Newbie you are gonna love this bike..........

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes. I love the bike even if I did hit gravel to miss the pothole my line took me into in the hairpin on 178 in SC. I dropped like a rock. 15 years of riding, the last 10 without accidents untill this year. R1150R rearended in Key West in March and now this #$@!. Schroaders Honda in Hendersonville NC saying repairs no problem, bike will be like new. I can hardly wait, mileage is down to just about zip this year. Be safe and keep the rubber down, (guess I should take this to heart myself) !!!!
