I have a new Starcom1 Digital with a Belltronics 955 connected to it and even with the detector volume turned down all the way it is too loud in the helmet. Anyone know how to reduce the audio signal by adding a filter or something inline on the cable?

Well, there is this click here. (http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/roaueaac.html?productid=shealeativoc&channelid=FROOG)

You can also find it at Radio Shack click here (http://www.radioshack.com/sm-gold-plated-volume-control-cable-for-stereo-headphones--pi-2102975.html)

Thanks Rob, I already have the Radio shack control and it is either off or all the way on. I think the output is overpowering the little pot in it as this has happened on other things I tried it on that seemed to have there own small amps inside. It works great on Lisa's Ipod

If you can solder or have a friend that can, a small plug in attenuator would be easy to construct from a short piece of shielded wire, a male connector, a female connector and a resistor. I would start with a 1k ohm resistor.

thanks Ray thats kinda what I was looking to do , what values would be equal to say 25,50,75 % reduction in signal strength ?

I think you will find 1k ohm will knock it down by around 40-50%.

I got tired of being shocked into submission by my Escort's noise, even on low as you said, so I changed to this: http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/Marcs-Visual-Alert-p-17169.html

I like it much better. And, no worry's about seeing it. It's BRIGHT!
