Anyone ever use the Alpinestars Hero (http://www.newenough.com/gloves/street_or_racing_gauntlet/alpinestars/hero_long_motorcycle_gloves.html) gloves?

Any opinions welcome. I would like a bit more protection but comfort really takes a front seat when riding longer distances and it's a struggle for me to find a comfortable glove. I've looked at the 'stitch Elkskin guantlet ropers again and see they have some protection over the knuckles the same as the Hero's. The 'stitch seems to have some lining in them? I'm looking at using these for hot summer use so anything that insulates is a bad thing. I do like the visor wipe although, these will not be used in the wet. I've got the Taichi (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36461) gloves for that.

If you go for the stitch...make sure you get the ones without the liner....they have two versions of the glove....in 3 colors...

On the 'stitch gloves, can you feel the seams in the fingers? The AS Hero's they put the seams on the outside so that wouldn't be a problem.

Sorry just trying to iron out as much as possible before ordering. :)

I found this site (http://www.tasco-safety.com/workgloves/strength.html) with a decent comparison of goat skin to cow and pig leathers. I may try the Hero's with that information. Any more observations and comments are more than welcome!

Hello Matt

Was just thinking of getting a pair of these gloves. Any opinion?

Just can't seem to find any soft and comfortable that are not $150.00 or more.

Thanks
Larry

Never ordered them. What I did for now, is followed Raven's advice and picked up a pair of elkskin work gloves. I found the pair I'm using now at Cabela's but need to visit some feed stores to see what they have. I don't like the way the seams fall on the Cabela's gloves.

I got tired of fighting size issues with the online ordering and have not found one single decent pair of gloves in the motorcycle shops.

You might want to look at lee parks design if you want comfy. Deerskin and very comfy.

Tried them...in fact, LPD sent me three pairs of them and still they did not fit properly. The fingers were the proper length but the thumb was way too short. We couldn't figure it out. Similar issue w/the Aerostitch gloves and after three pairs, they gave me a refund.

That's six pairs of gloves yet when I go to the store, I can find glove after glove that the fingers all fit properly. Until I get the elkskin. Even the Cabela's elkskin ropers are a tad short in the thumb so it's making me wonder if it has to do in the maufacturing process of the elkskin gloves. I really am at a loss for glove sizing.

I've got Held Icebreakers that fit perfectly, Alpine Stars gauntlets that fit perfectly, and Gerbing G3's that fit perfectly, along with a few other pairs. What is the deal with elkskin and deer skin??????

Matt,

You might want to try Justin Boot Company in Justin, TX. They also make a great leather work glove and they are the only ones that I found where the glove actually fits me perfect. Plus side is it's right down the road from you.
