I rode my VTX in to the dealer for an oil change on a nice Saturday afternoon and rode home on a new '06 ST! Yea! I had never dropped the X and the thought was something that mortified me! I came close twice when stopping short with the wheel slightly turned but luckily (believe it or not) the scrape bolt on the bottom of the foot peg held the bike up just enough for me to get back under it and lift it before it went over. The damage (I assume) would have been EXPENSIVE!
Fast forward to the Sunday after I brought the ST home (now with all of 6 miles on the clock), I was practicing putting the bike up on the center stand and bringing it back down and I didn't put it in gear. As I let it down it rolled slightly forward, just enough to get away from me and down she went.....slow motion terror! I took a couple of deep breaths and after the visions of $$$$$ cleared I attempted to lift it up. Without the instruction I have now found on this forum I was tuley a struggle to get it up but to my great suprise the only visible damage was a slight scuff on the tip over wing!
Thank God (and Honda) for the wings! I realize that with the seat hight and weight of the ST the chances of it going over are a lot greater than on a low seat cruiser so I better brush up on my riding (and parking) skills and save some farkle $$ for tip over bars on the back.
Well done!
Got it out of the way on the 1st day!

Well you don't have a corner on that market my friend. I dropped min in front of a Honda Dealership with everyone watching. At least you had some privacy! Welcome aboard and glad to have you.

Where's Fred with a TOA?
I've been able to keep mine up now for 2 years and 2.5 months! :D

I also tested my bank angle sensor yesterday! Glad to report it works fine. It cost me my virgin tip over wing covers that I just replaced last year. :-( You would think I'd learn....

Experienced drop here. Sunday, visitor's center in Joshua Tree park. Sitting on the side stand, started to swing my leg over and she fell to the right. Nearly took me with as I was holding the left bar. Seems she was standing too upright. Back to the bike, left hand on right bar, right hand on grab handle, pushed her back up. No sweat and no harm as she doesn't have covers on the tip-over bar.
Only one of many over the life of my many bikes.

Nah, I had a very close call back in October. It came within inches of touching the tipover covers, but I was able to right it back up. :wt1:
My brother on the other hand has dropped his ST1300 a couple of times now. Once with a passenger on the back. :(

I've not tipped my ST yet. I was sweating it until I got my bars installed the other day. Hopefully the paint on them will stay shiny. I tipped my old GS1000 with a passenger back in the 80's. I'm going to attend the Ride Like a Pro course in April and will hopefully reduce my risk even more of a tip over. From the post I've read here, it sounds like the ST's are pretty forgiving if it's a minor tip and not moving forward.

Boy! You must have a shelf full of these by now. Here's another to add to your collection!
