This is my first 'real' attempt at fabrication...if you can even call it that. It's more of a modification than anything else. This will allow me to swap out radios quickly, see the display on the CB, and make adjustments easily. Form over beauty with this bracket.

You can see the small slot I cut in the bracket and that is where the Kenwood belt clip goes through to clip onto the base plate. The CB has a thin metal belt clip that actually slides between the mount and the base plate holding it in place. The groove cut in the top of the bracket fits the Kenwood belt clip further stabilizing it in the bracket. All I need now is to find a suitable safety strap that will hold the radio tight to the bracket.

The bracket sticks out a bit from the dash but there will be cables that will need to be secured behind the radio and I still have to find a suitable 12v accessory socket for the CB plug. I may cut it off and put a smaller quick connect as I just cannot come up with something I can live with.

I will have to send it off for powder coating as I just cannot find any paint that works worth a flip and I'm too impatient to deal with days of drying time.

Very cool. That will even allow you to use the stock antenna on the FRS radio if you wanted.

How about a self sticking velcro strap?

I will probably use velcro tape to hold it down. I'm toying with a few ideas but the velcro always seems to work best.

I started a thread on the Kenwood blade antenna (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37113) by Larson that I've got. I could use the OEM antenna but that would be a waste of a $75 cool looking antenna.

Looks really good Matt.

I may have to look at getting another shelf whenever I get ready to set up my bike to bike comm. Those small shelves are handy for all kinds of stuff. I'm using the left dash as a platform for my radar detector, xm and camera.
