...just my ST and I ... nothing really wrong, just having a look-see around.

1. Removed: Windshield, Black top cover, Gray cover under w/s.

2. Saw: The idiot lights, right there easy to replace if I ever have to.
The ECU (!?) it's labelled PGM-II and looks like it is the ecu.
Too bad it's right in the way of replacing the H/L bulbs - that's
what I was really after, to upgrade the stock lights.
Also saw where the speedo cable connects, etc.

Bolted it all back together nice. All in all a good session ... maybe I can replace the H/L bulbs from the underside ?

Bulbs can be changed from the back or the under side but the ease of change is dependent on hand size. The first time is a frustrating exercise but once you figure out the locking spring clip it's not bad, Remember that the three prong power socket must be squeezed from each side to release. I disprove the myth and can do 'em in ~5 minutes tops.

If you ever have the left side off to install the quartet harness you will see how easy it is to get to the (at least) the left side bulb with tupperware removed, but I would'nt want to remove it just to change a bulb.

'the ease of changed is dependant on your hand size' ... ha, yup you got that right ... should be about a MEDIUM for me then. Today I kept going and replaced the air filter (which needed doing) with a K&N ... will see if this improves anything ... not that much needs improving. :D

Old thread I know, but sparked my interest.
I will be installing H4 Bulbs, Relays, and a Modulator in the immediate future. Since I'll want to carefully route all the wire, and I'll have a fuse panel in the right side fairing pocket, should I remove the right side plastic to access the bulbs, and mount the relays and modulator?

How much of the right side would I have to remove?

As well, I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give me the measurement from bulb to bulb on the ST1100.

WOW,
I put in the adapters and H4 bulbs. I just couldn't get the wire holdersthingy back in place with only my fingers. Pushing the wire back in place HURT.

With the windshield and all the garnishing removed, I STILL needed a pair of needle nosed pliers to set the wire back in place.

This is NOT something I want to repeat for a good long time.

Yeah, Yeah, I've read all the posts. Still, how you guys can do it without removing any plastic is beyond me.
