Saturday April 12th Comfort Inn Parking Lot!!! 8 am - 10 am!!!

Chrome won't necessarily get your ticket punched for participating in this show... ;)

The Soft Serve Ice Cream machine mounted isn't the ticket we are looking for...

Newest/Cleanest/Bestest Paint jobs are all great but we are looking for Bikes with Character,,, along with the riders to match... :D

We will be on the Look out for bikes that have been to Alaska/South America/Both/Both in the same trip,,, Iron Butt Rides,,, in the Iron Butt Rally,,, Extra Fuel Tanks,,, Extra Gizmo's,,, just something we don't get to witness everyday...

We also are looking for the Riders,,, we don't all get to be either,,, but wish we could... ;)

Prize Money??? No...

Why participate??? Why am I holding this???

Back about 1970 I saw a rider at a Gas Station... Beat up dirty bike... Dirty looking coat,,, extra fuel tanks strapped on... Never,,, E V E R,,, saw a bike/rider look like that!!! I was lucky to have had a 10 minute conversation with him that changed my life... From that day forward???

Riding,,, was more important than what I rode...

I started looking at rides way farther than friends I had wanted to go on... I wanted to be,,, that Biker,,, that might change the minds of how we think...

Lots of people at the Moonshine Run are Long Distant Riders,,, probably,,, 71.3%... The Long Distant Bike show will be Cool,,, for them too,,, but,,, the other 28.7% might just see something that like me back in that little small town Gas Station changed my life forever... And for the Good Too... :D

I have scouts that are out looking for Bikes/Riders that might be interesting to see and ask questions about... If you are asked,,, I hope you will participate!!! Just have your bike in the Long Distance Show for 2 hours or as long as when you get there until 10 am... People will ask questions,,, and really enjoy seeing these bikes... You never know who's life you might change... ;)

Hmmmm ... me thinks this event will influence the imagination of many this weekend... From the surprised hotel guests who know nothing about this... to the community that, if the weather holds, will experience one of the hugest motorcycle rallies, without a sponsor, in the Nation. Even if "long distance" doesn't inspire some (it will inspire many), I recommend we all remember ACL's story of how one rider changed his impression of motorcycling forever.... and that guy never knew. We're all gonna gonna contact lots of people this weekend.... let's make Terry proud!!!

Great Idea! didn't we kinda have this show last year? I know I was lookin' for and at those bikes as I walked around the lot at the Casey Comfort inn in the light rain . And I think a more official show is very inspiring and an awesome idea.
Terry I borrowed this post from another board and it seems to apply to a lot of folks I met at Moonshine last year. I hope it's OK to share here... it's a little long but mirrors my feelings about the riders I've met through this board.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had the great pleasure of meeting WimpyHonda today, as he rode through my town in route to a great week of riding. While our visit was short, it was nice to add another face to my collection of fine people that I have met through this board. We talked motorcycles and rides, and of course accessories. After a much too short visit, he hopped on his wing and was back on the road. I was jealous of course, after hearing his plans for the week ahead, wishing that I could have went with him, and seen the things that he was going to see. I sat and watched him as he departed, off to visit family, and just ride for the pleasure of riding.

It suddenly dawned on me the he was a hero, He had just ridden 731 miles through some pretty tough rain, just to meet me and eat a hamburger with someone that he had never met before, just because we had something in common. He had another 150 miles or so to go just to get to the motel he was staying at this evening. He was on the verge of a 1000 mile day, and he looked like he had just ridden around the corner to meet me. He arrived with a smile on his face, and he left with one as well. As we talked about motorcycles and rides that we had done in the past his love for riding was evident and when he spoke of more rides he had planned, this year, his eyes sparkled with excitement. We talked about various members of this board that we had both met, and he had nothing but great things to say about everyone he mentioned. As he rode off I was thinking “There goes a really nice guy”, and I hope to be like him someday. As a matter of discretion I won’t reveal his age but let’s just say he has 20 years on me…

I guess PMS has had it’s effects on me as well this winter, as I have been discouraged somewhat by some of the tone’s of the post’s that I had been reading lately, and I was feeling like I had lost some of the excitement for riding that I used to have in previous years. I never post, but I read them all, and I am a quiet person, and generally don’t have too much to say, but meeting Wimpy today reminded me of why I bought this wing and started riding again, it wasn’t the destination, but the journey to get there. Wimpy didn’t think a thing about what he had just done, because he was doing something that he loves, and I really needed to be reminded of why I ride, so I looked up the definition of Hero and it said “ A person distinguished for exceptional courage, fortitude, or bold enterprise”. Well, maybe a hero is someone that just by their actions inspire other people to reevaluate their own life’s and make changes accordingly. I have enjoyed meeting every person involved on this board, and hope to meet more, not because of what they ride, or how they ride, or the color of their bike, or what type of tire they use, or even if they don’t change their crush washer. To sum it all up, everyone on this board are my hero’s because we ride, we ride in the rain, we ride in the sun, we ride in the cold, we ride in the heat, it doesn’t matter because we all know that the journey is what makes us go.
Terry, Thanks for puttin' this all together and I hope I can buy ya a frosty (or warm) beverage as the weather merritts next weekend.
