Does the ST1300 have a built-in helmet lock? My XXL full-face helmet will fit in the saddle bag, I tested that, but also wondering about a regular helmet lock beng on the bike.

Thanks for the help!

It's under the riders half of the saddle, and it's a pain to use. There are a pair of wire 3/4 loops under there that you hook the D ring of your helmet over, then replace the seat and let the helmets abrade the paint on the sides as the wind blows. I've never gotten them to work. Totally useless IMHO.

Especially useless if your helmet does not have D-rings, like many Nolans (including mine).

Cut 'em off with a Dremel tool and use them as plant hangers.

I can see the Helmet Guardian type locks being useless if you don't have a D ring helmet, but I thought I read somewhere that at least the under seat lock, as dysfunctional as it is, worked for clasp-type helmets, when little else would.

i.e. with the helmet done up the entire clasp fits under the seat w/ strap thru honda lock (?) - could be wrong here - good memory, just v. short.

I had this idea in the back of my mind when helmet shopping last fall but ended up with a D-ring'er anyhoo - so never tried it.

I found the under seat 'helmet locks' actually worked on the ST1100. I couldn't get them to work on the ST1300 with the bags on. Yep, worthless. I carry a cable and padlock for locking up our helmets. It's quick, easy and doesn't alter the appearance of the bike.

I lock my helmet in the right saddlebag on day trips or in the top case if I have it on. For long trips where the top case is reserved for other items, I cable the helmet to the passenger grab rail.

I like the plant hanger idea.

Yep, I agree with this. The helmet hooks are useless.

I have used the underseat hook on my Arai, but can't on my Nolan Flip. So, like others the simple way-especially when all luggage is full, I have a helmet cable and combo lock wrapped around the passenger grab rail. Just open the visor and loop the cable thru. Simple,it works, helmet sits on the seat-viola!
The cable and lock are plastic coated. :D
