Just picked up my 05 ST this week and I'm installing a set of risers. Can anyone provide me with the torque value for the handle bar bolts. I've ordered a shop manual, but it's not here yet. Thanks!

My 04' manual shows tightening both the socket screws and hex head "special bolts" to 22 N-m or 16 lbs/ft

Tour Performance tm Billet Bar Adapter by Heli
Installation Instructions for the Honda ST1300
* 1” taller 2” more rearward Improved Angles Part # HC0303 *
IMPROPER INSTALLATION COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. HAVE A QUALIFIED MECHANIC INSTALL YOUR HELI TM BILLET BAR ADAPTER.
The HeliTM Billet Bar Adapter is designed to safely increase your riding comfort, however it is imperative that these instructions be followed to ensure correct installation. CAUTION: Failure to follow these instructions could result in improper installation and create a dangerous control situation. If you have any questions about installation call Heli Modified, Inc. at 1-800-859-4642.
1.) Remove both left and right control housing wire looms from the strap that attaches them to the outsides of the bars riser beams.
2.) Remove center plastic cover.
3.) Remove the two cap head screws and bolt from each bar. Note the location of the hex head bolt.
4.) Remove the factory bar mount. The top hex head is 12mm and the bottom nut is 14mm. Use an offset 14mm hex wrench to hold the nut and loosen from the top 12mm head. There is a large washer on top of the lower nut. Repeat for the left bolt.
5.) Install the Heli Billet Bar Adapter. It will only fit one way. Move the front wheel so it’s facing straight forward. First remove the billet center cover by removing the two outer cap head screws. Leave the two inner button head cap screws in place. Remember to place the large washer on the bottom before the nut is attached. This requires both hands, one to hold the washer in place and the other to start the nut. Torque both bolts to 14 ft. lbs.
6.) Install the bars onto the adapter. Install the two cap head screws and the bolt through the bar base and into the adapter. Be careful as not to cross thread the bolts. Tighten all three pieces to 12 ft. lbs. It will be necessary to pull up on the cables and hydraulic lines to gain a bit of extra slack. They will naturally settle back into a new position after install is complete and the bars have been rotated several times lock to lock.
7.) Reinstall the center cover, adjust a bit for the best fit and torque the two 6mm cap head screws to 7 ft. lbs.
Double check all controls for tightness. Start machine and in neutral, go lock to lock and make sure the throttle cables move freely and that the RPM’s do not increase.

I purchased the riser blocks from MotorCycleLarry. I thought about the pullback plate, but I thought I would try the riser block first. I believe Motorcycle Larry suggests using the factory torque spec so I will go with the the 16 ft/lbs.
Did I mention this is a great forum .. it is!!

Here's two questions about problems I ran into during install (after purchasing a used plate from a fellow forum member):
1. I removed the stock riser plate, and there was no washer between the left 14mm nut, and the bolt. But there was a washer on the right side. Should I remove both nuts, and find a matching washer from a local hardware store for the left side?
2. I torqued all bolts to 15 lb/ft. But there is some give to the assembly. Is this normal?

I've seen this here 1 time before, hum. I put risers on my ST and I would for sure find another washer for the left side. I think the washer is used to support the rubber bushing in the triple tree. JMO

Well, I did find a couple of washers to put on the left side. They aren't quite the same diameter, and ended up being a little thicker, but I think It'll work. It gives me time to order some proper replacements.
And I guess the slight flexing is because of the rubber bumpers on the MCL plate to absorb vibration, so it's normal?

Mine flex a bit more than the stock units did. I just attributed it to the increased leverage. While riding its not noticable.
One thing that seldom gets mentioned here, though is that because of the flex it would appear that no one should use a Canyon Dancer to tie the bike down for transport especially after installing the risers.
I never felt comfortable using a Canyon Dancer even with the stock setup although the dealer does it all the time when transporting STs (and VFRs for that matter).
