any suggestions on good brand for this tool? Also type/size for use on the ST1300?

Godfather, this is a tool that I've found that the cheapest works about as well as the most expensive. Just be sure to use a recoilless hammer with it.

Sears has a decent Craftsman model. Works for me.

If you're trying to get cross-point screws out, the JIS screwdriver from the toolkit helps.

One other thing -- if I'm working on an older bike (which is most of my shop time), the first thing I do when I get it home is impact drive out all of the old case screws and replaces them with Allen socket heads. The old screws are usually melted down Japanese beer cans, and will strip at the first opportunity. The Allens are much friendlier, especially when making a field repair.
