Is there a "main" adjustment to the headlight thats independent of the electronic height adjuster on the dash ? I have mine set as high as it will go and it could stand to be a bit higher yet. The owners manual doesn't show anything but I can see two light gray hand knobs on either side of the headlight assembly inside the fairing. Any help is appreciated.

There's an adjust ment the moves both headlights up and then each one has an individual adjustment to move them inward or outward...
You should be able to see the 'gear' in there somewhere, I think it's white but not sure, that adjusts the whole assembly.

Thanks mellow. If any one can provide a more specific location of the adjustment I would appreciate it.

I found it. I adjusted the lights with the electric adjuster and located the motor in the middle of the fairing between the headlights. The adjuster motor is about an inch and a half in diameter. It runs parallel to the bike. When looking at the back of this motor, there's a light gray hex head screw that's perpendicular to the motor and coming out at about 7 o' clock. It's most easily accessed from underneath the fairing with a long ratchet extension or phillips screw driver as it has a phillips slot in the middle of the hex head.
Apparently the light gray hand-knobs I mentioned are the left right adjusters for the lights.
I manually adjusted the lights so that I'm about in the middle of the electronic adujustment. Now I'll just wait for it to get dark again.

There's a grey plastic hex head bolt (IIRC) on the side of the aiming motor. Page 3-22 of the service manual for those of you taking notes :) The best way to access it is to lay on your back on the left side of the bike. The motor housing sits on the back of the headlight ***. and the adjuster is on the left side of this. As noted in another thread the instructions in the earlier manuals are the reverse of what's needed. To raise the light turn the adjuster counterclockwise. It's prudent to do this adjustment with the with the beam already adjusted all the way up with the electric adjuster.
